The whey from cheese making can make real nice bread dough 😉 and poured over plants (if growing veg) helps make them grow more too If using full cream milk and its beyond its bb date its perfect for cheese making

Only a pleasure.... we also lost my dad years back so know .... just my mom and i at home now We're also trying to use up what we have without wastage and without having to just keep buying Another thing we do is buy already roasted chickens and shred the meat and store in portions in freezer bags... and when a salmon special comes around we buy bulk, portion it in vacuum sealed bags and freeze until we want... usually the special is when we take the whole fish costs us like R700 but if you work it out per portion comes down to R100 or maybe less per meal for the 2 of us.... gotta change the way you think when buying bulk Your freezer will be your best friend
@theprettystitch70923 күн бұрын
@@carrilyons5304 Absolutely! Get those deals when they are available and plan ahead. Before my husband passed we got a large freezer which has definitely been a blessing.

Making your own cheese & butter (and subsequently buttermilk) btw butter & buttermilk can freeze well. U might want to buy bulk to stretch over a few weeks... it may splurge as a weekly spend but spread over a few weeks it works out

Great tips! Thank you. 🥰 I have made my own butter before, and I really should do it again. I am fortunate to have a local dairy close by that sells cream much cheaper than a regular grocery store. I'll need to pick some up and get to it!🙂
@carrilyons53044 күн бұрын
Youre lucky in that respect to have a dairy so close.... good chance they keep chickens too (or maybe some of the other farms nearby too) and you could get meat and eggs from them much cheaper too... and if you can get honey from a local bee keeper then you are covered for your super expensive grocery items Make your own salad dressing a combo of olive oil, red and/or white wine vinegar, dijon mustard honey or sugar (i prefer honey) salt and pepper and youll have made a most delicious salad dressing.... cant say on the ratios as im still working that out myself from a bottle i bought from a restaurant (had an ingredient list on the label)

Hi again Sonja. Last text - I promise. TY for your response. I finished the skirt and it is adorable. Litsa from Coco’s Crochet has other items planned for the rest of the year. This is all perfect timing as my four year old granddaughter moves out of state with her parents on Nee Year’s Day. I crocheted my sadness into the doll skirt - something I truly thought I could or would never do. I even ordered a dolly that looks like her as a model. By the time I see her again, I will hopefully have a wardrobe of doll clothes. You are a lovely, talented, patient, and creative teacher. TY again for giving me the gift of confidence.

Hello Sonja. I am here watching your wonderful video because of Litsa from Coco’s Crochet. I also subscribed to your channel today as she will be participating in a doll Clothes CAL and I would like To try to participate as I have a beautiful (gorgeous) four year old granddaughter. It would be amazing if I could feel confident enough to crochet clothes for her Dollies. She loves everything I crochet and I believe she would really like these article of clothing. I am a 66 year old young lady ( but I truly feel 35- especially after retiring) who only started crochet two years ago after my retirement. I have looked diligently for your Etsy shop so that I may support you to buy patterns but I am not sure what it is called. Thank you for your tutorials and I will let you know how I did after I try to crochet this dolly skirt. ❤

Thank you for your kind words and your support. 🥰While I do have an Etsy shop, I am currently not selling on there for various reasons. I may start it up again, still deciding. But I do sell my 18 inch doll patterns on Ravelry. (Not all of my 18 inch doll videos have a written pattern. I hope to do that this year) Ravelry is free to join the site and you can also find many other free and paid patterns on there as well. It is a great resource for crocheters and knitters. Here is a link to all of my 18 inch doll patterns on Ravelry: www.ravelry.com/bundles/patterns-for-american-girl-or-18-inch-dolls

@@moiraalix7962 your criticism is warranted although a bit harsh. I agree this was not one of my best tutorials. In my defense, I was very new to making tutorials on KZbin and editing. Thanks for sharing. I have tried knit patterns with Tunisian but haven’t been successful. Maybe I just need to make swatches first 😂
@theprettystitch7092Ай бұрын
I don't think all knit patterns translate well with Tunisian crochet, but there are some that do work. And yes to swatches! ☺I purposely keep "junk" yarn just for swatches and pattern prototypes. I don't want to use the "good" yarn if my idea isn't going to work.
