I use a 3mil cord. Loop at one "head" spin around other "head" pole.( nemo hornet) Slip knot at end. Fly over poles, light stake out. Set up tent under fly or on the outside. Once cord is attached to the "head," poles I can push on the "toe" pole and once arch is correct loop cord around pole bottom and frame is up.

Still no joy with the corner pieces please either make them and sell them or make the design dimensions available online.

Get a tent that sets up outer first, or inner and outer together, simple.

Looks great. Gotta create the straps to hold my tent's poles. Watched another video where the tent, fly, and groundsheet are packed together, and you lay it out, and slide the poles under the fly, and then stand the poles up. I will definitely try this too if I can create the straps to hold the pole. Don't know which method I'll go with. Thanks for the video

Thanks. Very helpful. The use and construction of the straps was not clear. But, I get it.

Totally irrelevant for my tent. The poles thread through the inner. I don't have piles of money to spend on your make of tent, you should change the title to "how to for wealthy people". Thank you.

I built something similar. For placing the poles I used a couple of caps of PET bottles in which I drilled holes for the strings that I used.

If you don’t have this ribbon can this method still work using foot print

Yes you can use the footprint, but the footprint will be wet so up to whether you mind it being wet.

Thank you for this video. I know they are starting to make tents that set up rain fly first, but your video encourages people to use the tent they have. Thank you.

This was a great video! Taught me a lot both about my new tent, and how to do the rain thing -- I remember one time literally bailing out a tent, and this will be... better. :-) Also really enjoyed the light/funny moments. Rock on!

Absolutely fantastic idea... would like to see one made of ultra light paracord, for those of us who like to weigh everything for backpacking. Brilliant and ingenious.

Great video. Thanks! My solution was to set up a tarp to sit under then have my wife go set up the tent. Doesn't work very well cause she won't go backpacking with me any more.

Like it although a simple rigging setup using dynema cord would also work and would be less bulky. Great idea though.

Hi Leo, Yes, a line with loops (Alpine butterfly) works as well but it does get tangle up easily so pack it well :) Have a great trip and stay dry!
