Love what you said about the dog, how you can't not do something just because you know it'll end.

I vlogged for a month straight, in part inspired by you and that was really hard. It was also before I had kids so I'm always so impressed that you were able to keep it up that long. Like you said, I sure appreciated how it would get me up and out of the house!

ADHD, ugh. Right now trying to find the right med for me. I should have been diagnosed years ago, but finally went through the testing and started meds. The one I am on shot my blood pressure through the roof. So, I stopped that and now waiting for a new med. So glad you have your's under control and the medication is working!

why did you guys do the floor yourself? So intense! Great before and after! A dog is a new full time job in a lot of ways. Glad that clicks. Always great to see you Cody. You’re a magical human being. Ultimately you are LIVING life. That’s a beautiful reason to be busy. Glad Vyvance is working as well. Much love.

I also feel like a daily vlog for a creative is the ultimate way to build discipline. Even if you didn't post the videos but you went thru the motions of picking up the camera everyday, filming, editing, etc. that would go a long way (especially a beginner) to learn and work on multiple facets of filmmaking.

that is the thing i forgot to put on the pro list -- how INTENSELY well you learn your gear and your editing system -- my camera became an extension of my body in 2018, and editing was as effortless as typing an email

@@RCodyWanner I put my gear down for quite some time, and I think doing a daily vlog would help get me to that position. Loved the video and insight from someone who's been there & done it.

Cody, I always enjoy your energy and encouragement. I think I found your channel right around the end of your year long vlog. The only time I was able to stick to a daily vlog was a trip to new York in 2021. I know it was because I was so excited to be there and in the moment that I wasn’t distracted or self-conscious. Last December I tried Vlogmas- it lasted exactly one day! 🤣

Cody, I'm definitely feeling the day by day tension of trying to shoot daily but also the excitement of that, I'm shooting 30 shorts for the entire month of June and if I forget to shoot a short and its getting to my self imposed deadline it's like an itch in my brain that I can only scratch by creating... Love your content Cody ✌️

I was happy for you that you finished the commitment you made to yourself to daily vlog for a year. That was epic and your growth in your craft was insane! But I'm not going to lie… I legit grieved for a second when it was over. You yourself said you wouldn’t have the job you have now if you didn’t vlog. You got on people’s radar including mine because of vlogging. It opened so many doors for you. Another positive about vlogging I see is you were able to document people’s most transformative experiences of their lives including mine. I treasure that video you made for me. Beau

I followed the instructions, but there is only one thing I noticed. My clip is somewhat zoomed in and is no longer in the original scale once I've done the tracking as outlined in the video here. Is this avoidable?
@RCodyWanner
@RCodyWanner Күн бұрын
so you'll need at least a little zoom in, to give the clip room to move around in the frame -- but create a new compound clipped with everything there and then zoom that compound clip out a little bit and see if that looks better to you

Watch out for the super glue fumes. It can wreck your camera. It can leave deposits over on your shutter blades. (I modded a cheapo camera from 5below, using super glue ended up hazing over all the parts.)

Yo, that body doubling idea- I can totally see some sort of AI companion thing coming in on this. It could turn dystopian real fast. Currently I got entire playlist of stuff that I can just kind of tune in or tune out of throughout my day. Whether it be podcasts or something. White noises doesn't work for me. I got to hear somebody talking. And what's actually really helpful is when I'm tuned into some sort of live stream on KZbin that I can kind of be half paying attention to and also engaging and the person on the other end is also responding to the thoughts I'm sharing while I'm still doing my work even if it's medial test like laundry or the dishes

Hey Cody. I’ve seen this video before, but coming back to it today as I’ve started to take meds for my ADHD. This is something I said I would never do, but I’ve been too curious. I’m a dad to two young kids and I work in the creative industry so very similar. Can I ask if you take meds and what your thoughts are about them?
@RCodyWanner
@RCodyWanner 6 күн бұрын
i do! vi vanse works well for me. the other two types i tried did not work well at all // my thoughts about meds are if they help you handle the negative aspects of ADHD at least 20% better, without any side effects that are too much to handle, then i am all for them!
@jaymorris4807
@jaymorris4807 6 күн бұрын
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I was really paranoid about any side effects which is why I didn’t take them for a while. They seemed to have calmed my mind a little this week so the jury’s still out. Exercise has always been the one for me before meds. Running helped me loads, but sometimes it’s not enough.
@RCodyWanner
@RCodyWanner 6 күн бұрын
yes, exercise is an absolute must for us. i am at 5 one hour plus sessions per week currently, and definitely get thrown off when i miss, i also try to incorporate a walk or two throughout the day, and sometimes pushups or air squats did your doc start out with c n certa or ad ur all or vi vnse? if the side effects get too much to take (for me, it was anger/mood change on one and a zombie like 1 hour long crash on the other) i'd highly recommend asking to try out a different one before abandoning them completely

@@RCodyWanner I was diagnosed by the NHS last Dec and was immediately prescribed Methamphetamine. The options for medication between the UK and US are vastly different which limits my options. I had the medication in my cupboard for six months before I decided to try it last week. I suffered with mood swings and bouts of anger so I thought I should try it as it may help. I took it last week and the first day I felt quite hyperactive, but after a few days it seems to have levelled out to the point I don’t notice any difference. This makes me think that this medication is probably not the right one for me, but I feel like I need something as have lots of drive, but zero focus until I’m really enjoying the task in hand. Thanks so much Cody. I really appreciate your perspective on this. 🤘👍

@@jaymorris4807 i believe in trusting your gut when it comes to this stuff -- head to the doc and tell them this experience -- they may want to up your dosage but they may also be open to having you try a different one -- the generic name for v y vnse is "Lisdexamfetamine" -- i am fairly certain is is available there because a couple of people from the UK who i follow on IG have talked about it that leveling out effect happened(happens) for me after a week of Lisdexamfetamine as well, but i still see the positive effects so still worth it

Cody, thx for the video, couldn’t have come at a better time, as I was just ripping what little hair I have left out, doing a vertical track in FCP. I have been a die hard FCP user, buuutt unfortunately for Apple, this video may have spurred me on to jump ship. Have you seen all the new features in Resolve 19? Intellitrack, etc. And my goodness I was blown away when I saw resolve basically has Motion built right in with Fusion. looks like the fusion key editor smokes FCP/Motion??? Idk I’m gonna try the full studio version for a month thru BlackMagic cloud for $30 , probably will end up using both. oh yeah and I can use on PC too. And you don’t have to upgrade your os to use a new feature….. on & on Hmmmmm Apple get it together!!!!! Thanks again for your vid!

This felt slightly more manic than usual but then you've always been one to show it how it is :) maybe you didn't ice bath that morning. *That* guy would have crushed the important task. But squashy foam guy is paying it forward for future important task guy. I do think you gotta be easier on yourself.. i try a "it was meant to be" way of thinking. You were meant to fix the chair that day. And you ensured that it was meant to happen by turning it into content. Gotta at least ensure the side quests pay the bills :) Wishing you well, Cody! I should go spend some sleep blocks.
