You do realize if the Allied powers didn’t help in the west next summer Germany would just continue its push back in the next summer? And look how weak Russias military is today, you are practically comparing a historical titan to a modern toddler, the Russian military is an absolute paper tiger. And In no way am I defending N*zi Germany. Im just saying that the USSR would have easily lost if the USA didn’t fund them during Operation Barbarossa and if the allies didn’t attack in the west for Operation Overlord and the Italy landings. The USA and other western countries are working on laser technology meanwhile Russia is still trying to make air craft close enough to beating the F-22. It also doesn’t help that almost the entire world is on NATO’s side, even members in the BRICS alliance such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Argentina. And they are also worrying about a betrayal from China. Russia is in absolutely No condition to face a massive war, unless it uses its 1980’s designed nuclear weapons considering thats its only option for a chance to win in any war and thats all Putin threats other countries about.

Paz❤

Remember, the War in Europe was primarily Germany vs the USSR. The War in the Pacific was primarily the USA vs Japan. Apparently, the Pacific front American veterans had very little in common with the European front American veterans due to just how differently the Japanese and Germans fought.

It's not that the Soviet Union's role in the conflict is undervalued, it's that the Soviet Union made a pact with Hitler, invaded Poland with them, massacred it's population, then continuously throughout the war engaged in brutal atrocities and outright ethnic cleansing, including against the people they were supposedly "liberating". Then, after the war, they enslaved Poland, who Britain ostensibly got involved in the war for 2 years prior, killed the leaders of it's own resistance movement and called THEM Nazis. General Patton was right about the Soviets. We went into the war to liberate Europe, and we failed.

My great-grandfather was a foreman in the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War. He defended Leningrad, fought against the Germans and Finns on the Volchov front, and at the end of 1944 his division was transferred to Poland to participate in the Vistula-Oder operation. He went through the whole war, but died very absurdly - on May 13, 1945, his company was clearing an airfield in Czechoslovakia from the last fighting Nazis, and before surrendering, the Germans left barrels of methyl alcohol there. After the fight, they found them and drank them, as a result, everyone, including my great-grandfather, died of poisoning.

In 1942 all of Ukraine was "free and independent" until 1943 when the Soviets launched their "unprovoked" invasion of Ukraine, and it took them a couple of years to fight in Ukraine, as the Soviets were using "human wave" meat assaults, fighting with shovels and washing machines. English Wikipedia address "Soviet famine of 1930-1933" =Reactions= Some well-known journalists, most notably Walter Duranty of The New York Times, downplayed the famine and its death toll.[153] In 1932, he received the Pulitzer Prize for Correspondence for his coverage of the Soviet Union's first five-year plan and was considered the most expert Western journalist to cover the famine.[153] In the article "Russians Hungry, But Not Starving", he responded to an account of starvation in Ukraine and, while acknowledging that there was widespread malnutrition in certain areas of the Soviet Union, including parts of the North Caucasus and lower Volga Region, generally disagreed with the scale of the starvation and claimed that there was no famine.[154] Duranty's coverage led directly to Franklin D. Roosevelt officially recognizing the Soviet Union in 1933 and revoked the United States' official recognition of an independent Ukraine.[155] A similar position was taken by the French prime minister Édouard Herriot, who toured the territory of Ukraine during his stay in the Soviet Union.
