I was playing as the Soviets last week, and I defeated the Germans in a regular war by 1944. Right after that, the Allies were at war with the Sphere (Japan). Spain joined them and was a bit like a supernova. They were able to quickly take over all of France, some of Belgium and Italy, and West Germany. @velnz54753 жыл бұрын
Leftist infighting is a thing. The main takeaway is French leftism (altho it had a communist party) was still pro western, yet anti imperial, anti monarch and for the most part anti statist. The majority of French leftists were Republicans like their Spanish counterpart, which emphasized workers rights, liberty and laws that couldnt be ignored by its own government. The Soviet Union was led by Joseph Stalin, a ultra totalitarian, cultish industrial collectivist of agriculture and class... widely criticized even within communist and other socialist movements. It would be hard to say the French Commune and the Soviet Union would get along especially in the time of war.

@velnz54753 жыл бұрын
@@alternativeaccount848 I sense salt, French communists under the leadership of Maurice Thorez took considerable inspiration from Stalinism however was more popular for its anti colonial policy and antifacism. French communists did not make up the majority of French leftism and its insulting to French leftists as a whole. Especially since most in the popular front apposed Stalins policy for other leftist groups, even going so far as to support Trotsky at one point. As for your statistics on Russia's approval of Stalin, they didnt have a choice... Stalin purged the people who didnt like him (through trials, dekulakization and many other things). In fact he turned on the NEP and purged his friends closest to him in place of younger politicians who didnt remember what it was like before his rule.
