It was hard to get Nissan factory racing parts in Australia. The 120Y engine in my sports car had a ported and polished standard head with an angle plane (about 4mm) and reshaped combustion chambers like a Cooper S. 37mm inlet valve, 30mm exhaust. brass valve guides and spacers on the rockers. All threads fitted with stainless steel inserts. 76mm Repco flat top pistons with 1mm chrome moly rings. Approx. 11:1 compression. Dry sump pump on the timing cover driven off the camshaft with a modified oil pump and custom sump with the scavenge pickup at the front. Lightened flywheel with AP racing clutch. 2 X 45 mm DCOE Webbers, Electronic ignition. 1,300rpm idle with an 8,000 rpm redline running on Avgas. Looking at the valve sizes they might have worked an A1400 head to save some work.

The A12 in my Datsun 1200 Coupe was another story. Twin 1 1/2-inch SU carbs, 1mm overbore, balanced, mild cam, extractors and custom exhaust. 160km/h and better economy than standard.

I think it's a cool tuning. Please treasure it.

Very cool to see one of these engines close up. All the old NISMO parts are rare to see.
That's cool! I am currently restoring a Datsun Sunny with the a14 engine and would love to get racing parts like these but I can only dream. Thank you for showing us these pieces of racing history!

Helo sir...where did u connect the distributor vacuum valve to? Can u teach me?
@CLOUDTubeJP Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. If it is a full transistor type distributor, there is no need to connect the vacuum. Point-type distributors need to connect the vacuum to the carburetor
Excellent mechanics Good old days. Is it possible to find a GX cylinder head ?
@CLOUDTubeJP Жыл бұрын
thank you. GX heads still exist in Japan. I often see it being bought and sold on Yahoo Auctions.

Try Japanese wreckers in Australia. They brought in a few GX engines back in the eighties. When a friend bought one to put in his sports/racing car I made the manifolds for the twin 45 mm Webbers.

Hi blessings 🙏, I need a high pressure oil pump for my A14 engine kameir oil pump any idea where I can get one .. thank you..
@CLOUDTubeJP2 жыл бұрын
Ah, hello. The oil pump for the A-type engine can change the pressure simply by replacing the spring inside. Kameari also has the reinforced spring, but I think it was also sold at "B Project Japan". Also, TOMEI sells a reinforced oil pump for racing. ●B Project Japan datsun1200.jp/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=131 ●TOMEI www.tomei-p.co.jp/catalogue/a-oilpump/ ●yahoo shopping shopping.yahoo.co.jp/search?rkf=2&uIv=on&first=1&ei=utf-8&seller=1&p=a%E5%9E%8B+%E3%82%A8%E3%83%B3%E3%82%B8%E3%83%B3+tomei+%E3%82%AA%E3%82%A4%E3%83%AB%E3%83%9D%E3%83%B3%E3%83%97&spro_storeid=venus-new-style&spro_itemcd=venus-new-style_194014&stp=1&sc_e=sydr_sprotst_uisa_list_pd__statrep_a2&__ysp=QeWeiyDjgqjjg7Pjgrjjg7MgVE9NRUkg44Kq44Kk44Or44Od44Oz44OX#sproanchor

I am nobody in car engine, but can someone help me out what's the name of the part that he hold at 4:03 that looks like long metal rod ??? I have my dad's car sitting in his garage back in my hometown for over 5 years now, one day he told me that the one that is broke is that part. Now live in bigger city maybe I can find the replacement part for it.
@CLOUDTubeJP2 жыл бұрын
Those are rocker arms and shafts. From 4:03 onwards, they are fixed to the head and bolted with 2.2 kilos of torque. And from 4:54 onwards, a rod called a pushrod has already been inserted into the head to move the rocker arm. The pushrod is connected to a component called a valve lifter. The valve lifter is mounted on the camshaft, and when the camshaft rotates, the valve lifter is pushed up and down, and the push rod moves up and down accordingly, which activates the rocker arm and moves the valve. Please fix your father's wonderful car.
