Hi Jack, yes they are. All electric vehicles from a Bus to a Scooter present a real challenge to anyone with a vision impairment. As you really cant hear them coming when crossing roads and have to concentrate very hard. I am going to do a video on this over the festive period. Keep a look out.

The power of Mother Nature should never be underestimated. I'm not sure there is a single isolated thing to do to stop it, but there is a multitude of different things up and down the river that would help in these situations. Dredging could help in some parts, flood pans or plains couple help in other parts, and better banking would also assist in other areas. Better drainage systems could help in some places as well. Loads of things to be considered, but at the end of the day, The Environment Agency will probably end up saying, there isn't enough money to do anything about it.

Hi Adam, thanks as always for watching and for your comments. Someone else mentioned planting more trees upstream. I looked at this on KZbin and it seems like it could work. Cutting down all the trees is another topic altogether and worth looking at.

You are very brave, they are beautiful but I prefer to admire them from a distance. They are fed daily with special feed (not bread) there are signs requesting that people do not feed them bread. When the floods come they love it as their territory expands. This is Worcester UK (where the sauce is made) by the City bridge and Cathedral. Thank you for uploading/sharing the video.

Really interesting and educational video George. I had no idea there was a turning cone under the box at such crossings. I'd also not stopped to consider, what a simple everyday task such as crossing the road for a person with normal or good eyesight, could turn into such a difficult and sometimes dangerous activity for someone with vision impairment I was annoyed that there were two cyclists who crossed when the light was red, oblivious to the dangers and so inconsiderate to others.
@GeorgeTravels1221Ай бұрын
Hi Adam, thanks for you comments. Crossing any road is really difficult especially if there isn't a designated point. I cannot hear bikes, electric cars and scooters coming and am going to cover these in another video. Sound is also impacted by different weather conditions, another thing to think about.

It is a very pleasant journey but without the train announcements, it could quickly turn into a stressful situation not knowing how far along the journey you are or when to get off. It is surprising how relatively quiet the journey is without them, but I did miss them. Until now, I'd not realised how much I also rely on them when travelling, not only to make sure I'm getting off at the correct station, but also to know roughly how far along I am on the trip and knowing when to start gathering up my stuff to get off at my stop, or whether I've got enough time to watch another KZbin video.
@GeorgeTravels1221Ай бұрын
Adam, I totally agree
@adamshaw7191Ай бұрын
This is another interesting video with loads of information, George. Thanks for checking out such a big and busy station. Don't worry the sound quality was just fine, especially considering the very echoing acoustics of such a large open space. Lots of editing to keep out the announcement! How easy or difficult is it for you to navigate such a large open echoing and noisy environment?
@GeorgeTravels1221Ай бұрын
Hi Adam, thanks for watching and your comments. Its always more tricky to navigate in open spaces. I just posted a train journey video from Dartford to London Bridge. The audio announcements on the train were turned off which really makes life difficult. Have you seen it?
@adamshaw7191Ай бұрын
@@GeorgeTravels1221 I've just watched that 'peaceful' trip! It, and found it rather surprising that the guard or train supervisor didn't make any announcements, which they usually do if the automated systems are not working.
@GeorgeTravels1221Ай бұрын
Hi Adam, there are only Guards on the longer journeys on Southeastern. It's really annoying when they don't have the audio announcements on especially in and around London.

I suppose one would grow used to the perils of living on the banks of a river must be the occasional flood. Whilst insurance may pay for the damage caused, no doubt premiums will be double or more next year. On the bright side of things, at least the swans have a few more places to explore, rest and get fed.

Hi George, when you're around floodwater does it change the sound of the surrounding area - for example, is there less echo, quieter, etc.? If so, does it change how you perceive the environment around you?
