I really like the Super Timber, but figure , I need to learn to fly before I try a tail dragger

I had a blond moment, and ordered the mini apprentice s, 1.2 m, I meant to order the 1.5 Apprentice STS, I did not realize they were two different planes. It will be here next week, do you think I made a huge mistake, or should I embrace the S as my first plane?

Am I the only one that has an issue with these gimbels? Why are the ends the shape of serrated shards? Absolutely dig into my thumbs. I ended up installing rubber end caps to protect me from the sharp points.

Heli all the way :P No, I like RC Cars, although they get quite boring after a little while for me. Planes are just pure satisfaction, especially at golden hour. But what relly itches me, is flying a heli.

I have the UMX Turbo Timber as well. My son learned to fly on it.

We just maidened our new UMX Timber X. So nimble!

I have both. Timber X is very responsive and I tune it to less than 100% throws. I adjusted everything to get max throws on the turbo timber including on the radio. It is plenty aerobatic now. Like its big brother, it is a lot of fun in the wind.

As a guy who has been into the hobby for ten years yes rc cars are way more durable and more capable then a rc plane however a rc plane is super smooth and satisfying to fly. But for me I think both are great and unique in there own way

Too funny! The 5 minute flying time isn't a drawback, it's actually very normal. If you want a longer flight time, use a 500mAh 2S lipo instead of the 250-300 mAh. And please keep in mind, pretty much all planes will be damaged if you're crashing them. With rc pkanes, if you're crashing, you're going to be breaking things... same with cars, boats, and most helicopters. CRASH BAD. 🤣

Good point about duration of usable battery...note: I think that 50 C batteries are heavier than 30 C and this goes across the board. The C rating closely tracks the heaviness of the battery...The higher discharge rate cells weigh a bit more

Beginners these days buy an ARF foamie. Beginners in my day bought a Guillow's stick and tissue free-flight and converted it with VERY expensive micro servos...lol You guys have it a lot easier than my day. Do you think balsa models are better or worse than foam? Have you any interest in kits? Dancing wing has a few good kits and Sig is getting their act back together. Top Flite, Royal, etc. on eBay...Don't get me wrong, I'm critical of foam, but if a beginner can get a start flying GREAT. I think the Thrill of flying a model I built from a kit...is the adrenalin! Just me tho...have fun
