Good example of why you need a pair push sticks on the T/S @8:00. The Euro advice suggests these should be 450mm long. Nice to see someone use the riving knife & crown guard, as plenty of tutorials omit such sensible actions. All the best Tom

I have used your videos countless time to help me but this is the first time I didn't get my answer. I am installing a 1 1/4" resew king on my laguna 18bx and am unable to get the blade in the correct position with the deepest part of the gullet at the crown of the wheel. the blade is to wide and rubs on the back. I am sure there is a solution for this I just can't find it.

I assume it’s to free all the fine dust he just created from the pores so the oil in the next step would take. I’d never heard of it either and honestly it’s genius.

Why on earth would you sand your cutting board?
@BeachsideHank16 күн бұрын
I wouldn't. Sandpaper rapidly gums up and becomes useless, use a cabinet card scraper instead, it leaves a silky-smooth finish with very little material loss.
@generaladmiralaladeen253316 күн бұрын
@@BeachsideHankcutting boards should be finished with sanding and not planing, for good reason. When you sand with high grit, the sawdust fills the pores of the wood. The rougher finish from sanding also allows oil and wax to work properly.
@BeachsideHank16 күн бұрын
@@generaladmiralaladeen2533 Guess what else fills the pores- sanding grit, your knives will NOT thank you for that contamination. Nope, as a retired custom woodworker, I stand by my assertion and further, animal oils entrapped are NOT removed by sanding, only scraping gets you back to the original fibers with minimal material loss.
@Ekdrink16 күн бұрын
@@generaladmiralaladeen2533sanding actually makes it harder to finish what are you talking about? If you don’t believe us go try it on some scrap wood you have.

@doomslayer554916 күн бұрын
you could get away without it but its definitely way better to have, as it does a good job sealing the wood and stops food from sticking as much

Quick tip: Keep the foam insert that came with the blade. You can use it as a template to cut out the shape of the bade from a piece of wood, to make the holding block. Then, simply cut the shape out of the middle section on the bandsaw and attach the two halves for a nice, form-fitting holder. Use an opposing color wood for the insert for a nice esthetic contrast.

How much do drums cost? If they're not too expensive, it seems to me a person could have multiple drums, each with a different grit. Then, when needing to change grits, just switch to a drum with the required grit. This would significantly speed up the sanding process.

I've had 2 Jet drum sander and absolutely hate changing paper! There has got to be a better way to attach the paper than those janky clamps. The one that's supposed to apply tension isn't worth a dime IMHO. My drum sander has been setting unused for about a month now because the paper has come loose again and I'd rather not use it than face fixing it.
