As a fellow J120 owner, I admire your skills and the vehicle's capabilities. While I prefer calmer roads, it's incredibly reassuring to know my Prado can handle anything. Great content!

Nice meeting you! We have had our share of daring roads and also starting to move to more calmer roads. I can assure you your Prado will take you anywhere!! The Prado is incredible. We just did another 8000km over 5 borders with him. Over 400 000km on the clock now. Love it!! Thank you! Happy you like the content. Our next Africa adventure will be on KZbin late October. Thank you for following and being part of our offroad community.

Hi. Alle stands is redelik privaat en so 2.5km ek dink van die main lodge af. Daar is nie altyd water in die gat maar die diere by die lodge ens se gat is baie nice. Dink julle sal dit geniet! Wanneer gaan julle?

Out of curiosity, there has obviously been many mods made to your prado to get clearance and make it a more suitable offroad vehicle. What I'm more intrigued by is that water crossing you did that covered the bonnet of the Prado..now I'm not 100% on that model vs my 2006 Grande Petrol, but surely they have the same electronic setup which still doesn't make it a good car for river crossings. Petrol vehicles in general vs diesel. Besides the snorkel, what else was done to the prado to make it possible to cross these rivers without damaging electrical components, or did you have issues relating to that crossing afterwards? Any type of servicing done afterwards? I am contemplating to get a snorkel as due to some floods here in Australia I was forced to cross what's usually a dry river bed but at least it was at tyre height after waiting for the waters to calm down. So some say it isn't worth getting a snorkel for a Petrol Prado so just wanted your thoughts and opinion on this? 🙏

That water crossing was a bit deeper than expected. We have put this 120 through some horrid places and he will be doing 5 Africa countries self drive soon. Including Botswana again. It has had many modifications yes. Regarding the river crossing prayer. Only thing we have had in the past was the battery being wet and kept showing a battery light… but no. Nothing else. Only issue was that the water entered the inside of the car. And we had to air it for a day to dry. We actually hd to go through that crossing twice to the dead tree island. We dis not know that the road was closed.

Think make sure of your wading depth, but it is not ideal I think. Consider ourselves lucky this time around. We were in the Delta. Crocs in the river and predators around us. Shut eyes and go🥴 let me know how it goes!

Looking for the biggest welwitchia and then you drive off the road to right next to it! So much respect for the nature that's still there or left! What are you taking out of there for free!!??..... Fish??

Have a good long look, and you will notice, that this is a passing point. There is a track that goes between the two Welwitshia's. Nowhere was there "driven off the road". Perhaps the mismanagement and inconsiderate behaviour of all the miners in the areas that just drive wherever they want to do whatever they want, to go and find the next thing that they can ROB from mother nature. How about the mining company that is mining in the MIDDLE of a Rhino Conservation area? We drive some of these tracks daily, and I can assure you, you are not concentrating when you think they "left the road". Sometimes, there are not even any roads. Before criticising, ASK. And again, you should fact-check before blasting off a comment that you think you're correct with. Biggest Welwitchia? There's this amazing source of information - Google! I'd recommend making sure of facts, so that considerate travellers, like Nolene and her family, are not targeted for something that is utterly wrong. Just asking would have already bee a good step.

I think the biggest disadvantage to the 120 is the larger tires closely followed by increased weight and air resistance. I have a 2005 grj120 and am convinced it's the best truck in the world all things considered.

Yes indeed the rooftop tent and tires… everything goes against his speed here. Both is ours. 120 stays our preferred choice for offroading….. since 2008. This 120 has been through some rough driving and terrain. In the end… we just love Toyota😅

Agree. Had the 120 been stock with AT tyres, it would’ve been a tooth and nail drag race. My 120’s GR engine grunts like it’s rally ready.
