hey, where did u get the replacement wrap?

rumor has it that if you get the abs module from the same year/model car, it should work, coding will be needed, but any ha;f decent scanner than does coding can do it, the 2 major issues are usually the (front) abs unit, internally the wires fail,and need to be re-soldered. the other issue usually is the pre-charge pump, on my E38/740iL it sits on the driver firewall, and is sorta easy to pull out and re-install, 2 screws and 2 metal brake line connections ( 11mm). junkyard unirs are usually OK, assuming the lighs 3 lights are NOT on that car as well. if you find a 2001 740iL/E38 (front) abs, get back to me, Id like to try it, tks

TIP: Always decant your reducers and thinners into smaller mixing cups before you add it to the base coat. Stops the mess from pouring straight from the container.

My 84 here in Australia is currently getting the same treatment, but I removed the bumper belts from the panels and doors and will replace those with a new set, that set runs $700 USD so it will be $1200 here in Australia. I had shiity pealing paint as well because of bad prep, but once I stripped off all the paint layers and got down to bare SMC, the panels are as straight as an arrow. Mine is a two tone blue combo and it is a factory manual car, so its only 1 of 179 cars with the two-tone blue paint and manual transmission. I like the level you have gone too, I've done the same, but I used a heat gun to remove the panel from the rear hatch glass and have it in primer ready to go. I took the following layers off to get back to bare SMC, clear coat, base coat, primer, oem base coat and oem primer. Its a big job but worth it.

The gold is tacky, go matte black/gloss black.

Like you said it has to be coded. It will noy work until its coded. The module is set to work with the VIN of the car you took it out of and will not work until its coded to your VIN. Better off sending out your unit to have it repaired for $100. Lots of places do it

did you find the problem? i think i might have the same problem with my e61 2008. I have changed the module, the abs block and the pump. nothing seems to work. i'm getting fault code 6e33 (hydraulic unit: internal)

Nice job. I did similar plastic welding when I rebuilt the vapor canister on my 84. Very useful technique.

I don’t like the gold. On that car you could go chrome or black emblems. Black trim on the top and black door handles.

I bought my '84 for around $2500. Paint was in pretty good condition, but the interior was rough. I had to fix a lot of mechanical stuff as well. Sold it for $5500 and bought me an '85, haha.
