Hi, Andrew! First, let me congratulate and thank you at the same time for all your videos about Pd. I love how you present the concepts in a "direct to the point" way, very, very helpful!!! Now, here is the part where I ask for something (; Do you know some way one can change the color of the background? I am visually impaired and some of that manifest in photophobia, so the bright colors are somewhat painful to look at. ---- Right now I'm inverting the color of my display back and forth, which is not ideal but it works. --- Anyway, thanks again, I will keep following your videos in order.

Great video! Would exporting the main patch export the infrastructure of your sub-patches with it? I am asking as I want to use pd in an arduino (Bela) context.

5:29 I click on the numbers and nothing happens, the result is still 0 Edit: using purr data use shift+alt click to send values, alt click and drag up down to change values (increment by 1) or shift+alt (increment by 0.01)

LOVE these tutorials! I could use help understanding why we need a multiplier between the osc and the dac... I forgot this when I was trying to review this Chapter from memory, and although the frequency input affected the output, the number going into the right side at top didn't seem to change the amplitude/volume at all. I added in the multiplier, and everything was great. But I don't know why :P Sorry for the newbie question, but I just don't know what I'm missing here. Thanks!

I tried copying this in plug data, and a strange thing happened. It plays fist note. Ignores the next ones and only changes note after it's reached it's maximum poly. Then starts again. Oddly

How did you get the Number box from 0 to 1 to be subdecimal (0.x)? for me it instantly jumps to 1.

Is there any way to send a custom function to the array to use as an oscillator? Like say I wanted an oscillator that looked like f(x)= [2/(1+|2x-1|)]-1, between 0 and 1, kind of a curved triangle-ish oscillator.

One issue with this Mono patch will be evident when you try to play legato ; releasing a note will override the currently playing note to play the release envelope of released note, an undesirable behaviour in mono setup.

You can account for however many folds you want with one function (I didn't try it in pd so I don't know if expr~ can handle absolute value and modulo operations but I assume it can 😅) | (x + 3) % 4 - 2 | - 1

Hello Andrew! Firstly thank you for amazing tutorials. It's amazing! I have encountered a problem with this looper. The same problem occurs with the Sampling patch from another video as well. The sample records only for the fraction of a second even if I press on / off Record toggle for few seconds. Do you know where might be the problem please? The patch is exactly the same as I followed in the video.

It's possible that when you created the audioLoop array it used the default size. At about 1 min into the video I show how to set the size property to allocate the amount of memory you want to store the captured audio. Hopefully, that fixes your issue.

You never say how to open a new patch. You never say what keys you're hitting to create the boxes. Only 5 minutes in, and I'm done.

Fair call about not explaining how to open a new patch window (select New from the File menu), methods for creating the boxes are covered at around the 6:30 min mark.

1 is the maximum positive value we want for the waveform (they typically range from -1.0 to 1.0), so if it's greater than that, we fold it. Similarly, we fold values less than -1.

Insanely cool. How would you go about progressively reducing the volume of the older samples? So, if you had three overdubs (three audio samples playing over each other), it would be cool to have the oldest audio sample reduce in volume, and the second oldest audio sample also reduce (but not as much as the oldest), so you can use the looper without everything getting ‘muddy’.
