Same here, just bought my first bike (GS500E 2002) and comparing it to my Fiat Grande Punto 95cv this thing flies. Be safe out there, we have to learn and adapt before having this control on the gears, even if we already have experience on 4 wheels

Where?? I don't know if you are familiar with this platform, but this engine basically pulls the same way all the way from 2500 rpm to 5500 rpm, after 5500, basically it just loses out, unlike the Golf GTI engine. Think of it as very similar to a diesel. Redline is at 6000rpm, if I don't shift, then the car will automatically do a slower shift.

A gs 500 f is a ok bike. Engine Sounds boring. Looks strange from front and gsxr from side. Good at touring but extremely unstable at crosswinds on expressway. and repairs cheap. Insurance cost same as a 300.

I get it, everyone has their own perspective relative to their demographic about suzuki gs 500. It was a nice bike back in 2005 but in 2023 not very much. Being carburetor, older technology compared to anything after 2014 is substantial Weight distribution, ride posture, ergonomics, styling and power , braking are below to a 300 cc in terms of price as a value. One argument our American friend gave about Hayabusa and 16 year old is totally like asking for admission to an E.R hospital. Anything over 90 hp is unnecessary for the public road no matter which part of world one is driving. our physical bodies are not designed to take such sheer forces as in torque and excessive speeds unless you have an ego problems. In that case nothing is enough. Now, thinking rationally. A honda cbr 600 f4i or any cheap 600 inline 4 (insurance affordable with exception of America where deals are a plenty) should suffice. Why in line 4. Once you keep one you will know, almost impossible to explain. But mind you , do keep one in your life time. It's worth the experience. Safe riding everyone

Very nice. 'Hope it still runs as nicely after almost 7 years since posting. Being envious of the original rear suspension adjustment lever (my rear suspension has toothed wheel) I thought I might mention that the adjustment lever is normally oriented to the inner front, not outer rear. Maybe swapping sides might be a fix, if you don't mind my mentioning it.
