We learned about cleavage testing in 4th grade when we got to a geology unit and for YEARS I couldn't understand why some of the class would find it funny

Emerald's are pretty but they look too fake to be real for the $$$. Does that make any sense -? 🤔

I'm not sure I have anything emerald tbh, while the dark jewel green color I do like, I've always gravitated to peridot instead (emerald feels like one of those birthstones that isn't to be trifled with by us folks of other birth months 😅) That said, definitely a pretty sparkly!

Superstitions only have the power you give them :). Have at. Enjoy the green!

@@mooneyfinemineral that's the funny part - it's not even the birth month thing, I wear amethyst and opal and that color changing june one whilst mine is peridot. Maybe I just irked someone when I was a kid and somehow associated it with emeralds, who knows 😅🤷 I do like the shinies though, and that is a pretty shiny!

My suspicion is that this water was effectively sterile, with extremely high dissolved and suspended mineral content. I would not be SHOCKED if there were some bacteria in the sample - in fact I’d be shocked if there were absolutely none - but as to whether they had infiltrated the geode or been introduced after opening would be up for debate. The notion that they had been sealed in the geode for its entire life, however, seems like the least likely theory to explain any biologics that may be present.

Rock - An aggregate of one or more minerals, e.g., granite, shale, marble; or a body of undifferentiated mineral matter, e.g., obsidian, or of solid organic material, e.g., coal. You're technically correct.
