Given that the upper mid-palate teeth are angled back, my guess would be they were meant to keep caught prey going in the right direction. If you think about it, live prey will fight. An adaptation like rear-facing teeth would reduce the fight quite a bit. Either way, the prey is dead, but with teeth like that, the meal goes where it's meant to go.
