Thanks for the video, but what is a headwall?

Headwall sometimes refers to the steeper section at the top of a trail if there is one.

Thanks for posting a high quality, high resolution video! Was awesome to watch it on a high quality monitor! I went on 6/1/2019, they had top to bottom, ski on ski off.

didn't even notice they were DD EX until I read your write up. tbf, part of that is not being/feeling like you're on the top of the world above the tree line. except for the snow having that "spring skiing" sort of mush to it, it looked great. so many wonderful options for bumps out west. could almost never do the same run twice whereas I contented myself lapping the same one or two trails all day in the NE. 😁

Yeah there's so much variety! I'm kinda the same way out East but I can't tell if that's just because I have incentive to mix it up for recordings purposes. I find that at places like Killington where I've already filmed almost everything I end up doing a lot of repeat laps though. Colorado resorts are just a lot bigger, and since I could only really do day trips out there it made sense to take in as much of each resort as possible. An interesting side note is that A-Basin is considered a small resort by CO standards but it's the same size as Killington and Sugarloaf!

What an awesome season they had. I was lucky enough to go 7 weekends in a row. I wished I went back this last weekend to just ride it. End to a great winter at killington.

I just spent 4 months in Colorado and can kinda see where you’re coming from haha. But this was pretty early in the season (December pow is almost unheard of out here) and I was just happy to get some natural terrain under my skis. But this probably wouldn’t even have been open in Colorado or Utah.

@@Greg41982 Yeah that part rocks! I wouldn’t give the resort too much credit since it’s just left over from the bike park but I’m kinda glad they kept it. You made me watch the video again and it’s crazy how much my skiing has improved since I filmed this. Thanks for watching!

that looks...awful. long sideways traverse to gt to 50'-100' vertical of skiing, and then 2x the traverse on the runout? 😌
@Bram4Real
@Bram4Real 28 күн бұрын
It's probably better with actual powder and wax on the skis, in that case the first traverse is more like an actual trail and the runout is pretty scenic.

huh. first DD that had me scratching my head. I guess it's because of the rocks? or b/c it's the bottom of a bunch of steeps?
@Bram4Real
@Bram4Real Ай бұрын
I think it's the rocks, they might be obligated to mark it as such because of the legal definition of a double diamond in Colorado, so it might qualify from some of the steeper drops. Otherwise it might just be to discourage what would probably be frequent injury from unprepared skiers who might fly through it and go off a low-vis cliff or something lol

as a person who never bothered to do minuscule hike required to take upper catwalk from the top at killington, there's zero chance I would ever, nor could ever understand, hiking up the rocky western peaks in ski boots. that said, I think the traverses are the absolute worst part of it. full on panic mode. those rocks sticking out. no "guard rails" (as it were). and this video isn't even close to the worst. I almost pissed myself watching the traverse atop Mott's Canyon at Heavenly. OMFG. lul my legs would just turn to jelly. 😅 good on you though! I'll stick to lift service.

Yeah it was kinda crazy to me at first. I always put the bar down when it's just me on the chair out of habit but I've only been asked maybe like 15 times this entire season by someone else, one of which apologized profusely and said it was customary in Aspen.
