Sorry about the color quality - not sure what happened but something got on the lens and I didn't notice it on the screen until a couple days later.
My final run in the Beavers pod. Probably one of my favorite resort areas ever, up there with Blue Sky Basin in Vail and everything off the Panoramic Express at Winter Park. The endless sea of trees out here draws parallel to Julio/Juanita/Anarchy at Killington but there's a lot more to explore at a mellower pitch. Just the glades of dreams out there!
I thought this was a fitting last run in the area since The Last Waltz is a fitting name based on historical connotations to feelings of nostalgia at the end of an event. This felt the same way, saying goodbye to a phenomenal season out in Colorado. Of course, I still had to do another run or two to get back to base, but this was my homage to such a beautiful portion of the resort.
As for the run itself, the rock formations on the way were pretty cool but man the way in and out were pretty rough, mostly from the sun-baked snow stripping all the wax from my skis. This would probably be a blast in peak season as I imagine this area seldom gets any traffic. There were tracks from the last couple days (it hadn't snowed in a while) but I would like to think I was the only guest to go this way today.
Advice: You'll need a whole lot of speed getting into and out of the woods for this one. Also, stay at the very top of the traverse as you'll need it to clear some of the denser tree coverage below. Enjoy the solitude!
Overall Difficulty: 4/10
Relative Difficulty (Peaceful Valley, Diamond): 3/10
Relative Difficulty (The Last Waltz, Diamond): 1/10
Accessibility Rating: 4/10 (Obnoxious traverse to and from the good stuff, plus only one trail sign)
Open Trail Index: 4/10 (Closes a little earlier than the rest of the Beavers, which closes early May)
Enjoyment Rating: 7/10

that looks...awful. long sideways traverse to gt to 50'-100' vertical of skiing, and then 2x the traverse on the runout? 😌

It's probably better with actual powder and wax on the skis, in that case the first traverse is more like an actual trail and the runout is pretty scenic.
