Around 1hr 16mins Mr Finley tells of a dream he had of Thomas Merton folk dancing. It is funny 😅 but he includes the Scriptural passage of Jesus telling how the children in the street were saying: we danced for you but you did not join in. - Eventually Finley says everyone got up and danced with Merton except himself because he (Finley) was too busy protecting his notes on Merton's folk dancing and he was annoyed at thinking he would lose his place in the notes because of Merton's distraction, but he was not really noticing that there was no audience to listen to him anymore because they had all gotten the message to become a child again just as Jesus says we should in Scripture and they had all joined Merton in folk dancing or as Thomas Merton called dancing with the Lord at the conclusion of his book "New Seeds of Contemplation": The Cosmic Dance.

This: “Thomas Merton had insomnia, and he once wrote, I’m lying here in this bed and the bed becomes an altar, and in a distance city somewhere, someone is able to pray and perhaps people whose lives we have touched most deeply will be people we will not meet until we are dead. The power of love is not limited by space or time. It is not limited by anything.” Thank you, Jim.

Dualism is hard wired in the sexes. The turtle tribe male . And the mollusk tribe female. yes God may as creator of both in his superposition has a wholistic Unitive view but it would be silly to deny our own side of the dualistic unfolding. Or to paraphrase the Bible he made them male and female.

Well Merton could be wrong and was probably a more ACTIVE contemplative as per his multifaith outreach. So he had reached in but gone out. Where you get the large A and the small c. The Franciscan large A didn't grasp this . The contemplatives didn't grasp this either. But the eastern Monks also mocked Merton after he said this muscular willful asceticism wasn't right for everyone so they said he only had external hesychia not internal hesychia. But maybe the Abbott in letting Rohr in was trying to shake his Monks up by opening the Rohr Franciscan external window. In sum 1 size doesn't fit all in a church where God it's central value can be ALL TO ALL in HIS infinite mercy. 🙏 frankly it's rather unfortunate and degrading to the other Monks to turn GETHSEMANI INTO the Merton shrine despite his contributions to it in lectio scriptorum. There may have been holier men there who put up with his imperfections and criticisms. But egos will clash even in monasteries for the greater good.

perhaps maybe he is speaking to your shadows and they are cringing--that happens when truth speaks and am not ready. The man is humble due to a traumatic past which broke him, he is not speaking from high academic platform but life formation and experience, his truths resonate deeply.

How do you know the difference between the wheat and tares? In the end at the harvest when both are matured the tares stand up straight and only the wheat will bow. Humility is the key.

You can't bore me with history but you can slay me with a LIE...Choosing something which has been predetermined by a power and word much greater than yours is arrogance beyond belief....Focusing on a thing? a leaf? rather than Jesus?...2 Corinthians @ While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal..... Thats why people are worshipping wrongly...hugging trees..caring more about nature than their neighbors...Romans @ Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. No judgement = no discernment...Check your brain at the door - how stunned can you be...NO THANKS...Praying for you that you repent... Nothing more than yoga..A yoke... Beware people - this is another gospel!! 2 Corinthians 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him....Show me in scripture where were told to contemplate anything...Paul warned and said think on these things none of which can be seen...Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 2 Corinthians 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. This man is teaching a DIFFERENT gospel...Proceed with caution

COME ON! THE reason for any journey in the religious life is "The Love for Jesus God Almighty." He draws us because He loves us and will bring us to a greater insight into His love for us, and our love for Him. Some folks like to do this out in the desert-real or constructed-and find Him there. Others do, and love, the "worldly" way, out where the majority of human beings live and die. The most contemplative moment in a Catholic life is when we are joined to Jesus in Holy Communion, Person to person.

What about sin? Life after death? Jesus being the only way to get to Father God? What about the practicality of getting nourishment from scriptures in the Bible? All I hear is spiritual blah blah blah- mysticism.
@chrisv.noire.6388
@chrisv.noire.6388 7 жыл бұрын
Jesus was a mystic. And yes, its all spiritual. Just the fact that you seeing this as 'blah, blah, blah' is evidence you don't quite get it. None of this is exclusion of all the things you've mentioned. This is a teaching to those who are already in the faith. Now that you are in Jesus, forgiven, you still have a journey to walk. You don't stop at the door and act like you arrived. Hebrews 6: 1 1Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works,a and of faith in God, 2instruction about baptisms,b the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. 3And this we will do, if God permits. This does not mean any of those things are not important. It means there is more, after you've stepped into the door that is Christ and that the Way that is Christ is a way you must walk on for the rest of your life and there is more to that walk to the Father than what you've mentioned. What about sin? it is simply and quickly washed away by His blood, what about life after death...you don't need to learn how to live the after life. Its how to live the present one that is problematic when you have people that profess Christ do the things that the present church has been doing. You problem is you walking into a person talking about something specific and asking why he is not talking about something else. Its like walking into a presentation of heart disease and complaining about why they did not talk about the liver.
