why would anyone use this instead of the figure 8? is there at least 1 real life situation where you cant do the 8 and have to do this instead? I doubt it

Interesting, I was looking into using shoetrees to remove odours from climbing shoes, or whether anyone does that or not. (It's good practice in other shoes, especially leather shoes, so why wouldn't it work to help air out, dry out and keep fresh climbing shoes right, especially if it's a cedar wood shoetree.) But then came along this little gem of a video. great one!

Finally, this is the advice I've been looking for. I went from rentals to La Sportiva Skawama's and both shoes have an intense hotspot on my big toe's, so much I almost can't bear to put my full body weight on my feet. It hurts. Will try this!
They sell for 200$ in the US. I love my solutions even though they hurt.

That is the best explained, camera angle set up, nice and slow tutorial of how to tie in correctly and trust me .. I’ve watched many many using the slower play back speed setting and STILL not getting an effective learning experience!! 😂

What is portrait here surely works, but is not a "pure biner block" in my opinion. Simply because the Biner is not what is blocking the weighted strand. The figure 8 blocks it and the Biner acts as a backup to this. Also: retrieving this can become tricky as the Biner AND the 8 has the potential to get stuck somwhere.

Could you grind new teeth in these after they get ground down from excessive use?¿?
@maxiusdark72447 ай бұрын
I wouldn't assume so, If it's worn out enough to grind new teeth I wouldn't trust it if i was climbing with it. I'd rather buy new cams and be poor than save a few bucks only to fall to my death the next time I went to climb.

I've had this in multiple fingers for 1.5 years. I talked to a finger PA and he said there was nothing he could do except give me a shot of cortisol. I've rested for 1 month on two separate occasions, and for 3 months on one occasion. I feel like there is no way to recover so I keep climbing.

Best backpack I've ever found, super frustrated that North Faced stopped making it! Still have my old one, but absolutely worried I won't find an adequate replacement once the old one finally goes the way of all earthly things.

If you clip a small carabiner into the small vertical hole of the mega jul, it can serve the purpose of a grigri style lever that allows nice smooth lowering action. I don't use the green lever for lowering at all. The lever gives very rapid lowering action, like you mentioned

The intro music is maybe 400% louder than the video. Are you crazy or trying to make us deaf?

This is a very niave approach and like most sports climbers you have no clue what is need. you not only need to tie off the belay you need to escap the belay. so your SOL.

Dude… after 15 years of climbing on beginner shoes, I finally started working hard and leveling up. Bought the dope solutions… however the big toe knuckle was impossible painful. Just tried your trick with a ball bearing and a shoe horn and light heat. It works dudes. It works great. In one little session working on the rubber, it went from awful pain to wayyy better tolerable climbable. It will be interesting to see how it continues to break in. Thank you

I'm not a climber or anything but pretty sure I have this issue in my left middle finger. If I place my hand flat all my fingers on the right hand are nice and flat where as my left hand it is all flat except for the joint of my middle finger. It's not painful or anything just confusing lol. It's slightly darker on the joint than the rest of the finger and when I wake up in morning or it's cold and I make a fist it kinda feels like it's trying to stretch over slightly. Idk how else to describe it. Been like that for maybe 1.5 years straight now

I am currently on a knowledge quest regarding Kilo-newtons this information appears to be incorrect. A kilo-newton is a measurement of a "Shock load" NOT a "Static load"! One kilo-newton is equal to 225 pounds (225 pounds represents a static load) but to get a kilo-newton measurement you multiply 225 lbs by earths gravity 9.81 m/s2 - - - 1 kN = 102 kg (or 225 lb) × 9.81 m/s2. The force of gravity is not really something I know how to explain but the point is 1 Kn is measured under a shock load, a load being dropped specifically and measured as well. So a 25Kn carabiner is rated at 5625 lb of force on a shock load not just hanging still "static"

I have had this for the past 3 months now. I still can feel it but it varies in pain from day to day. Some days it feels like it’s getting better while others are the reverse. Nights are usually when it hurts the most and the afternoon is when it’s barely noticeable if it all. When I climb on it that’s when it feels the best weirdly enough. Overall it’s a weird injury that seems like it never goes away.

I had this 6 months ago after climbing too hard too fast (4 times/week triggered this). Joints swollen on 6 fingers - couldn’t make a fist at all. Went to see Ortho and he put me on finger splinters. I wore them for 3 weeks. I injected steroids on the worst finger. It got sore for a week then recovered. I have rested from climbing for 3 months. During this time, I went to see a PT for ultrasound treatments. It got better slowly. Came back to climbing again for 3 months now. The swollen joints flared up every session but not as bad as the first time. What i did differently: 1) Tape the fingers 2) Limit my training to 1-2 times/week Seem like it never goes away. But, I learn to be patient now. Want to have healthy fingers so I can continue climbing.

tri-cams are excellent in quartzite, which tends to fracture horizontally more often then other rock types. maybe not as great at indian creek or on granite splitters, but in most quartzite (that I have climbed in mid Atlantic US), and in weird little pockets, they're excellent. perhaps even indispensable. worth a look.
