Hi❤, is the system to change the cables the same in the different needles/ brands/ material? I was suggested to buy little by little needles and cables specifically for the project you are working on. I ask it to avoid ending up with multiple cables or needles of the same size but different brands. Thank you
@westmavenКүн бұрын
Viviana there are a few brands that have interchangeable cords lykke knitpicks and mindful cords I believe can be used but my advice would be to get a set I have over the years purchased additional tips and cords but it will help to choose a brand and stick with it so that you don’t have to worry about mismatched needles I think most brands do offer a “try it option meaning tips and cords are available to buy outside a kit, you could buy and try out some needles maybe for a hat I find I use a us 4 or 6 with a 16 cord for hats and it might help you decide if you like them

Very good video. As for the circular needles if you would have only one set to buy which brand will you choose ?
@westmaven5 күн бұрын
Louise if I could only pick one set depending upon your budget I would buy 3.5/4 length tips, high budget chiaogoo (full set 171-220 usd) Mid budget lykke cypra (the ones I use most right now) ( 90-120 usd) low budget knitpicks (65-52 usd)

Should I buy Lykke 5” or 3.5”, which set will be most useful overall?
@westmaven8 күн бұрын
If you knit hats or need a 16 inch (40cm) than get the 3.5 I think it is the most versatile, I do often you the 5 inch for big sections of stockinette but then you won’t be able to knit a neckline or hat. So short answer 3.5 I hope that helps @stefanyirine

35:11 agree 100% about buttons! It’s so hard to find the right ones! ❤ a couple of times (to avoid button choosing difficulty) I’ve actually picked a sweater and yarn to match the buttons rather than the other way around 😅😁

Me too. Just picked up the Seeknit Curves. No more yarn snagging. I absolutely love them.
@DariasWorld10 күн бұрын
@@chaun72ie Ooh I actually don't have the Seeknit Curves, I just have the regular Koshitsu set. I do have to pull stitches onto the needles but otherwise the experience is quite good, the cord doesn't untwist from the needle while knitting. Is the difference with Seeknit Curves the fact that they go over smoothly from cable to needle?

Hi i am a beginner, and i want to buy circular knitting needles... Can u suggest me what size knitting needles and circular wire are mostly used in projects like sweaters and cardigans?
@westmaven15 күн бұрын
I would suggest choosing a pattern to start many sweater patterns will needle a few different needles and circumference (length) of knitting needles for example typically a sweater will need one needle size for the majority of the sweater and a smaller needle for the hem if there is ribbing etc. your needle size will also depend on the yarn used, if you have a local yarn shop that might be a good place to start so that someone can help you with sizes of needles. I will say if you plan on knitting sweaters an interchangeable set that is 3.5in tips would be best

I love making jewelry, too! I made a set of row counters with some number beads a week or two ago. They've been super helpful. And those gummy bears are adorable!! I'm totally on the same page as you with wanting to be intentional with the yarn I get and the patterns I cast on. I want to make sure I love it. I tend to be a bit impulsive in my yarn buying decisions because I will often see some yarn or find a pattern and know exactly what I want it to be! I'll see what I want the yarn to be and find the right pattern, or I'll see the pattern and go find the right yarn. So far, that method has worked really well for me. I am working on a Musselburgh Hat out of some hand dyed sock yarn that's pink, yellow, and orange. I have a multicolored sweater with heart-shaped cables. And then I ordered yarn for a Christmas sweater that I'll cast on as soon as it gets to me!

Great meeting you Sunday at Sacred Sheep! Love my cute gummy bear stitch marker. Currently on the needles… 1) swatching for the Spring Sorrel by Wool & Pine using yarn I got at Sacred Sheep - Handmade by Hailey Bailey in the color Nori. 2) Easy Goes It DK Shawl - lg size - using some 50/50 Merino/silk DK from Crystal Skyes Hand-dyed in the color Agate. 3) about to start a pair of vanilla socks using Lamb Good Fibers tweed fingering in Beautyberry. 4) Zarya Shawl by Ambah O’Brien using some Lamb Good Fibers twist fingering in Beautyberry and some I hand-dyed. Oy vey! More than I realized. lol. But two of them are gift knits.

Your little scarf is too cute! I do have a Sofie and that icord edge helps it not to curl. I have a lot of curling with my LaBandana. Your Pina Colada looks great. I def like the sleveless. If you use the grey Corrie and add mohair in a fade for the cardigan I would do a plan one not a fade with cables. I have had yarn, pattern needles, etc for years and just cast on my first Weekender. I want to have it done for Thanksgiving.
@westmaven12 күн бұрын
Heather, oooh I hope your weekender is going by quickly thanksgiving is right around the corner, the painted beads scarf does have an icord edge but it might be a little tight, or just lack of a proper pinned blocking
@heatherpiotrowski939612 күн бұрын
@westmaven Hey. It only took me 8 days to finish the weekender. I'm suprised how much I like it after having the pattern and yarn for so long and just never doing it. Do you have that labandana scarf? Her instructions for the icord include a yarn over and it leaves the edging super loose. Not sure if Im repeating what I said. Haha! In line at the deli counter...

Just here to mention since it wasn’t mentioned in the review. There are multiple images of Laerke’s bare breasts under her knits within the book. It definitely caught me a little off guard 🤣 (•)(•) 👀 😮😅

Right now though I'm making the Corfu Bag finally and it's for a friend, I've been wanting to make it for a few years and finally got the courage and I've realized it's not as hard as it looks! just takes patience. .. I'm also making the Sprite doll while watching this while waiting for more yarn to finish the bag, which is also a gift for the same person.

For locksport I would suggest starting with the FNG from covert instruments its cheap and a good way to gauge whether you want to jump down that rabbit hole.
