DONT REMOVE THE TIRE. That's completely unnecessary the owners manual just says to turn the wheel to the most right position and it worked for me. You'll have to move the wheel to the left to take the cover off though but it's a lot easier than jacking up your car and removing the tires

Security lug nuts are fine. Just keep the key with your jack and tire iron in your vehicle. If you have a purpose built off-roader, I would not bother, but I daily drive my Wrangler and I work in a not great neighborhood, so having just one more impediment for would be thieves to have to go through is reassuring to me. It’s the same reason I got locking hood latches and a locking gas cap. None of these things are 100% effective, a smart and equipped thief will get passed anything, but it prevents crimes or opportunity and hopefully dissuades would be thieves from going to my car over the less secure one down the street.

I was informed that there is some type of programming that you need to do with the computer while you are changing the battery otherwise it can short some stuff out. I changed my battery, it was rusted like another commenter said, but I made do and got it secure. Now I'm wondering if my recent bad luck with the anti theft lockout has something to do with my changing the battery and not programming the computer. Have you found this to be the case that a program of the computer is needed for a battery change?

It's not necessary to pre-fill the oil filter with oil. Maybe on a diesel truck with a one gallon filter, but certainly not with smaller passenger vehicles.
