I’ve been slowly migrating from Evernote. The one feature I either can’t find or don’t understand is complex searching. Evernote has Boolean search plus the ability to narrow search based on a rigorous search grammar. Can you comment on that?

I was very excited for this as I'm looking for a way to sync both. It was almost perfect until I realised Fantastical uses calendar sets, instead of showing me a list of calendars in the sidebar that I can simply toggle on or off. Great video tho!

If you do not have the "add to quick note" in safari on your phone, you can scroll down to the bottom of that menu and select "edit actions" and add it!

When you add a task from Apple Reminders in Fantastical defaults to 45 minutes and cannot be changed. In Apple Calendar, you can drag reminders and adjust the time accordingly!

Am I getting this right: when you add a task to a “smart list”, it automatically gets added to your default list (which isn’t and can’t be a “smart list”)? And therefore, if you want a task that is added to a “smart list” to appear in a different regular list, you have to modify that task individually? And furthermore, if you don’t move these tasks to a different regular list, then your default list will redundantly show the same number of overall tasks as the “All” widget?
@chriscardoso28 күн бұрын
A smart list is just a filter or way to view tasks that are within regular lists. So if you add a task to a smart list it’s actually being placed into one of your standard lists. Any time you make changes to it in the smart list or standard list it’ll apply in every view.

@SridharKatakamАй бұрын
so I tried Apple Notes and see that it is quite useless for me w/o being able to collapse content under a header in the content of a note. I frequently store large blocks of code under a h2/h3 heading and can collapse/expand it in Bear with a single key press (⌘'). This collapsed state also persists in other devices which is amazing attention to detail. Using Notes in comparison feels like going back to the Stone Age.

@F_droidАй бұрын
I think I might still use Notion with PARA method for big picture long term stuff for tracking but I can achieve everything I need to get done a daily, weekly monthly basis in Reminders which I found to be the most intuitive of all the apps I’ve tried so far.

1) is time machine smart enough to take differential backups of your Photos archive? (Ex: does uploading a single new photo mean an entirely new backup? B) for cloud options how would you automate this? Manually does not seem sustainable. iii) what about shared albums? Great video!
@chriscardosoАй бұрын
i) Time Machine does a full backup of your Mac the first time it creates a backup. However, every backup after that is only backing up changes. Anything that is edited is backed up again, anything created is added to the backup, and anything deleted is no longer included in the next backup. So the answer is technically no - a single new photo does not mean an entirely new backup but a modification to your original backup in Time Machine. TWO) I wonder if you could create a MacOS shortcut or script to export all photos from your Photos library created within the last X days and upload them to your cloud storage of choice? c) When you used shared albums in iOS, Apple limits the photo size down to 2048 px on the long edge and videos to 720p. If you own the original photos that are in that album, hopefully you back them up using one of the methods mentioned in this video. If not, you can always copy them into your library and keep your own copies of those reduced images and videos. Thank you for watching!

Brother you have an amazing deep voice, but you’re speaking from your throat, which makes it sound just like a vocal-fry. Consider learning to speak from your diaphragm!
