First of all, that’s tenderloin, filet.. one of if not the most expensive cut on the cow. The second one is Prime. Then the next shows a whole striploin.. $25 per KG, that’s a great price. That’s 18 pounds of meat right there, and a delicious striploin cut at that. I usually get like a 10oz steak for myself and that’s a good amount for dinner. That whole striploin is 288oz.. you’re getting about 29 steaks out of that.

1.88 for a bag of shredded lettuce? That's real cheap. Oh wait....this price is in US dollars. Up here in Canada same thing would cost close to 6.00 or more in Walmart and those Chopped Kits you're looking at, are close to $7 or $8.00 each. You're saying it's only good for one serving. Really?? Maybe serve with a side dish and one bag could feed 2 people. Great Value bread is 1.99. The rib eye steak well I would buy more then 1 at that price. Up here, you're looking at roughly 23 to 25.00 per lb. also its in kilogram. Today I bought a package of bacon and it cost me 8.97. Yikes!! and finally we used to buy the big cans of Pedigree dog food for 1.60 or so, now they are over 3.00 including tax. With 3 huskies at home they are not getting this very often but I do treat them, often, to the Pedigree Green sticks and at Walmart they are close to 18.00 per bag.

It's very simple.... you pay more for quality ingredients. Do you want toxic seed oils such as Canola Oil or Soybean oil in your pasta sauce? Or how about some modified food starch with those toxic seed oils? If you answered yes to these questions then you can always buy the much lower quality pasta sauces such as Prego or Ragu.

I live 45 min drive from Toronto and don't shop Walmart. I think their prices aren't very good at all. No Frills and Food Basics all the way. They're always having deals on. I only buy the meat that's on sale that week and just about every week, it's another great meat for a great deal. Huge shoulder pork roasts for 20 bucks. small beef roasts for 15 bucks, bacon for 4 instead of 7 bucks, and 3 full chicken legs for 5 bucks. I don't buy much lunch meats the prices are just stupid. Instead I cook me a pulled pork or a roast beef and then make sandwiches with that for work. or cook a chicken paprikash sauce and pour it over noodles. Gotta cook these days, it's way more economical and delicious. I'm no great chef either, but it's easy with all the youtube cooking videos. Last week I made a fancy French stew with the beef roast just following the video. Absolutely delicious. Impressed myself. Best cooking tip I got, "low and slow."

Sometimes there are amazing low prices on case lots of produce in the fall. I still have loads of red peppers from last fall that I roasted, vacuum sealed and froze.
