Thank you for another amazing video! I'm from Sydney Australia myself and only bought an embroidery machine recently. The deciding factor was your videos on ink stitch and how clear, calm and easy they are to follow. Thanks to you I've been pumping out work all holiday and even getting jobs because of it. Keep up the amazing work!

I want to thank you so much for this video and your other inkscape videos, I just got an embroidery machine, i'm a small business seamstress and this direction just makes sense to me. But when i realized how expensive embroidery software was and how awful the brother artispira app is, i knew i had to figure out vector graphics FAST. Its something i've been trying to learn since i was a teenager, almost 20 years ago. Yesterday I kept crashing inkscape trying to use inkstitch, today, I'm quickly becoming comfortable using it without crashing it. Your tutorial was perfectly paced and had all the little details I needed to design and make my first patch from scratch. I will be forever grateful to you sir!!!

Until recently, I hadn’t realized that Linux games shouldn’t be installed on an NTFS drive. Now that I’m installing on ext4, everything runs perfectly without any issues. I can’t even tell whether the game is running natively or not.

I can't say that I love that installer. After selecting Slowroll, it asks to set the root password then quickly switches to the "Configuring the product" screen where it looks like it's already installing. But it's actually just updating repos and then goes back to root password. After choosing the country, it's not smart enough (the normal installer isn't either) to auto select the keyboard. The partitioning isn't as smart as the guided one in the normal installer. If I have a 100 GB space without partition, a swap partition and a boot partition, it can't guess that it should use the swap and boot partitions. The guided partitioning one in the normal installer does.

You provide some excellent feedback. The game needs to be approachable without a ton of farming for gear to get through the campaign. I died many times on that fight as well. POE2 is not too robust yet, so getting through everything isn't doable for many (myself included). There are far fewer systems in place, and the end game is sparse as well (I stopped in T13). There is probably a build that you can beat all the act bosses with that has some dps, perhaps with overleveling. Trade is in a really bad place, so I admire your conviction in sticking with SSF.

I have a question that is kind of related to the program but also kind of not. So, I have Ink Stitch installed so I am able to open file types such as dst and jef. When I'm browsing my folder on windows, instead of an image where the icon is, it just shows me the inkscape logo. Is there a way to fix that?
@LowTechLinux
@LowTechLinux 13 күн бұрын
I'm assuming you're on windows. It would require windows thumbnailer to know what the .dst and .jef files are too, and how to read them. As a work around you could set those files to have a different thumbnail that looks more like an embroidery file, not sure though what windows has for selectable file icons.
@feralbear
@feralbear 13 күн бұрын
@LowTechLinux thanks for responding! It is windows. Funnily enough. My PES files all show fine. Only the other file types. And I tried associating them with embrilliance as a test and now they show the embrilliance icon instead of inkscape but still no preview. I'll keep tinkering away

Hi everyone! I could really use some help.. every time on my fill - when I embroider on my machine I get a line that doesn’t fill yet on the design on computer it looks like it would fill in completely.. what am I doing wrong? I wish I could upload a photo on here so people can see but really could use some help.
@LowTechLinux
@LowTechLinux 13 күн бұрын
The easiest way to fix this (usually) is to change the angle of stitching and/or to change to the fill density (peak to peak) slightly. Example .4 to .39.
@laurabrooks6986
@laurabrooks6986 13 күн бұрын
@ thank you for your help.. but which section is the fill density?? I currently have fill stitch on 45 degrees.. which angle would you suggest? And do you have a link to your facebook group? I’m very new to embroidery but not Inkscape as use Inkscape for my laser projects 😊
@LowTechLinux
@LowTechLinux 13 күн бұрын
well, I'd usually suggest changing to a 45 degree angle. try the density option. under params look for peak to peak fill. facebook.com/groups/inkstitch

2:10 The 3rd feature is the touch screen functioning as a drawing tablet. Which uses a separate stylus, which has hover, pressure and tilt sensing. A 2-in-1 would not be able to do this and is therefore not suitable for drawing art or writing notes. On my laptop I often use a screen-less external tablet for this functionality, it makes a big difference. TuxedoOS is the OS I recommend to most newcomers and recently helped my brother switch to. Nvidia and Ubuntu induced quirks aside, this has been a near perfect conversion from Windows 11 for my brother. The Tuxedo Control Center has been very useful on his duel GPU gaming laptop, for switching between GPUs without digging in the Nvidia settings panel. It is a good no-nonsense Ubuntu derivative, which makes the needed minor tweaks and ships an up-to-date KDE Plasma version but otherwise sticks to project defaults. I install TuxedoOS on the other systems which I do not actively maintain too. Our media PC, a repurposed laptop with a broken screen, was extremely finicky to set up right due to it needing the Nvidia 390 driver. Another HP laptop caused the Grub installation to fail due to their early UEFI being broken, this was tricky to fix too but not TuxedoOS's fault. On more modern or compatible machines, it just works well and is a very sensible Ubuntu derivative that does not get in the way. 20:00 Instead, this should function, for those who do want to install Snapd on their system. This is supported on TuxedoOS, if a user does desire to use that system instead of or in addition to Flatpak. It might even work if the system gets a reboot after the update, I do not know for sure since I never use snaps.

8:55 For the same reason, I ran Gnome on my laptop, which I occasionally fully use with a drawing tablet when taking notes. But Gnome was horrendous in this use-case, due to on screen keyboard issues. And the excessive padding made button hitboxes uncomfortably far apart when operated with a drawing tablet. Along with the excessive amount of needed clicks and some features only being available as keyboard shortcuts. After I had Gnome working perfectly, I switched to my then KDE Plasma 5 layout, based on an older default of Garuda Linux. Expecting to have to make major adjustments to make it useable with the drawing tablet. But it turns out I only had to install an onscreen keyboard, all the operation from the drawing tablet was just smooth. The update to Plasma 6 having made this even better, though moving to Wayland still needs some more driver shimming work on my end. The distro I have been maining for the past 3 years, Garuda Linux, also installs with BTRFS, Snapper, makes these snapshots available from Grub and automatically makes snapshots on updates. It being Arch based, this rollback ability has come in handy a few times, though often I could quickly fix the issue at hand soon after. After these 3 years I am getting bored with this distro just working well for me, so I have been looking at perhaps moving my laptop over to OpenSUSE soon. My desktop will probably stay on Garuda indefinitely, since I have fiddled so much with the software to make it work exactly to my liking that I would rather keep that install alive. In the long term, OpenSUSE seems to be the most reliable and suitable distro for my needs. But Arch Linux (through Garuda Linux being a layer distro on top of it) just keeps working well for me. There are minor issues and I constantly have to do some light maintenance on it, but I am practised in doing so swiftly. So once one of my installs properly breaks, or I find the time, I will probably re-install to OpenSUSE, but aside from bored-ness I do not feel a drive to do so. When I tinkered with OpenSUSE a bit back, the installer was unreliable for me and yielded different results after identical setups. Often not installing the system properly, occasionally using Ext4 instead of the specified BTRFS or the system not working at all. But as a proficient Linux user, I can verify this and fix most issues, as mentioned earlier once installed I expect OpenSUSE to be more reliable than Arch Linux. Better in the long term, but while I did make the move from Manjaro GNOME over this, what I have now is good enough, so this keeps being an internal debate for me.

I'd like to ask a question about Chrome installation on Opensuse. Is there any special reason why every instruction video on youtube prefers to show the zypper or opi methods of installation and not even one says a word about downloading and installing the .rpm file using yast, from www.google.com/chrome. Is there anything wrong with that method? Doesn't it add the google repo to the system and do everything else automatically? Should we avoid it for some reason? Thank you.
