Enjoying this build! I completely understand about how EVERYTHING seems to take FOREVER to get done. And the "roll in and roll out" tip made me laugh. It's so true! Especially for an old fat man like me. That or a dolly. lol I'm curious if the clearance for the front u-joint is as close as it looks to the floor boards or is it an optical delusion 😄? I have a 65 slick in my shop just screamin my name right now. I'm stuck between going the full frame swap or just the front cradle, motor and trans swap. Both routes have their own pros and cons. I'm in full blown Analysis Paralysis and the struggle is real! For now, I'm living vicariously through several KZbin builds - yours included - lol.
@DustyMacsGarage3 күн бұрын
Yooo!!! The u joint clearance is just a illusion or camera angle, and as far as you doing a body swap, if you got the time go for it... Everyone needs to do at least one body swap 😂, but thanks for the support thus far!!

I love the idea of the frame swaps and there have been many great ones. But I disagree with you about needing patina. It's overdone. Every car show I attend either has flat black cars/trucks with red rims or shined up patina. Both of those used to be unique, but now they all look the same. That truck deserves some paint.

I want to mount my spare under the car too, because I like the idea of getting to the spare without having to unload whatever's in the trunk, hopefully I continue the plan of air ride because otherwise it could get complicated wrestling it out, I do have bits from a Colorado (like the hoist) leftover because the drivetrain will go in the '79 LUV project for my uncle. "Best intentions" is right, that truck is crowding my plate

The panther trans Cross member is intentionally tight, this was the last body on frame car and it helped meet side impact crash testing, they also added seat side airbags. If you've got a straight and angled pry bars and a floor jack to put it back its not bad. I think you now have the excuse to buy or make (sometimes homemade are better! Or at least cheaper) some bigger pry bars since you're keeping this and you'll probably be the next guy to remove it again.
@DustyMacsGarage6 ай бұрын
Yooo! Andrew, yeah it was extremely tight coming out. Going back in was a breeze after cleaning the dirt and debri out. And yeah Im gonna be the guy that take it out again at somepoint 😂

I feel the same way about my 53 Hornet, it's a rusty Connecticut car and a literal basket case, but any other complete example is 10k+ and with a title $15k even with a seized engine! A cheap entry is a lot of work but so satisfying.
