Always loved the music to this and volume 2. Never heard it with this sound card, though!

thanks for uploading this. This actually sounds somewhat similar to what it sounded like playing the game on our old IBM compatible 486 machine with MS-DOS... the other versions I found uploaded to KZbin don't sound anything like it at all... must have been on more sophisticated MIDI cards than what we had.

Overall a nicer listen than the original MT-32 renditions, imo.

Stands out, maybe not like the roland cm64 or mt32 but nice little sound module :)

A bit weak in the first part, but after 0:34 it sounds very nice with the soft droning stereo notes. Quite full sounding.

The sound of this is strikingly similar to that of a Creative AdLib card, which also makes use of a Yamaha sound chip, namely the YM3812

I think the piano actually sounds better on this than the MT-32.

Hi, I just discover your channel. Amazing job ! Question , does it exist any possibility to use on real hardware laptop, original dos games for roland mt32 under ms-dos or win 95-98 with mpu-4 midi interface clone and yamaha fb01 ? Thanks, Paulo

Hi Paulo, If you have a modern laptop, you can use DOSBox and a USB-MIDI adapter to connect to real MT-32 or FB-01. (For FB-01 you will need to use Scali's special version of DOSBox linked in the description). That's how I recorded these. If you have an older machine that runs DOS, you can instead run SoftIMC to talk to the FB-01: twitter.com/Scalibq/status/955358484572332034 The tricky thing with old laptops is the lack of USB or Gameport. But if you have a serial port you can use an MPU-232: www.serdashop.com/MPU-232

Wow, another garbage MIDI converted rendition. Sierra really screwed this one up.

This is nice, do you think you might be able to record more Sorcerian FB-01 music? Sorcerian crashes with my FB-01 after the title/credits screen in both dosbox and my 386.

I'll be glad to give it a go. The FB-01 is connected to my 386 now, so I'll see how I go from there. Should find some time early in the new year!

Sorry, missed your comment! In this vid I was leaning over using the keyboard, but I now have an analogue thumbstick and some buttons integrated too.

Head over to the url in the video description, that's the forum thread where it all started. (My mod starts at post#21). Some other people have done it now too, so there's plenty of Q&A. Feel free to sign up and post in the thread, I'll try to answer any questions. :)

Yep, that's pretty much it! A bit of snipping and gluing, a bit of sweat and frustration. It's a joy to play now.

Ah, so instead of completely replacing the d-pad you just fused it together? Great idea!
