The eternal struggle of maintaining a protein-rich vegan diet! As a passionate vegan activist, Im thrilled to share my thoughts on this topic. Firstly, lets address the elephant in the room - yes, plant-based diets can be deficient in certain nutrients, particularly vitamin B12 and vitamin D. However, with careful planning, its entirely possible to meet these requirements through clever food choices and supplements. Now, I know some of you might be thinking, But what about all the fancy vegan protein powders out there? Well, my friends, those products are indeed helpful for adding a boost of protein to your diet. However, lets not forget that whole foods like legumes, nuts, and seeds should always be our first choice. In terms of specific products, I recommend exploring options like pea protein, hemp protein, or brown rice protein powders. These can be added to vegan milk or smoothies for an extra protein kick. Of course, we must also acknowledge the importance of vitamin B12 and vitamin D in a vegan diet. For those who are unable to meet these requirements through food alone, supplements can be a valuable tool. Now, Id like to highlight some amazing vegan ready meals available in supermarkets, which can be a lifesaver for busy vegans on-the-go! Brands like P Minister, Bowl Fire, and Soulful Meal offer delicious, protein-rich options that cater to our dietary needs. Lastly, lets not forget the power of fortified foods and supplements. By choosing products with added vitamins and minerals, we can help reduce the risk of nutritional deficiency in a plant-based diet. In conclusion, as vegans, its essential to prioritize our health and well-being by making informed choices about our diet. With a little creativity and planning, we can thrive on a vegan lifestyle thats rich in protein, nutrients, and flavor!

dear ladies. thank you very much for this insightful webinar. you told my story: I started hrt in my early 40s because of osteoporosis. I have post infectious ibs and my symptoms of bloating and distension got worse. moreover, I had breathing tenderness the whole month and I had mood swings. I tried hrt twice in two separate years for 3 months. due to my symptoms, I quit hrt and I am not keen on trying it again. the weight bearing training and resistance training with my personal trainer has helped me in reversing my osteoporosis. so thank you for emphasising the power of resistance and Weight bearing training. kind regard, Reimara.

thank you, ladies, for this insightful webinar. I appreciate the knowledge that you shared. i am pleased that you mentioned the fodmap diet for ibs. however, it is important to note that this diet does NOT exclude any food group. also, when people have a lack of intake of calcium on this diet, then they are most likely excluding more foods than necessary. the fodmap diet contains hard cheeses and lactose free yoghurts that are replete with calcium. so there should not be any calcium deficiency on this diet unless there is an absorption issue. but then this is not due to the fodmap diet itself. also, you depicted in the slide that fatty foods should be avoided. this is in contrast to the fodmap diet that is about avoiding certain carbohydrates. I think it is important to emphasise that people should avoid fatty ultraprocessed foods. not only ibs patients. moreover, it is probably not the fat in these foods that cause the symptoms but the artificial sweeteners, preservatives and additives, which the human body by evolution does not recognise as food. I'm looking forward to your next webinar. kind regards, Reimara

If I get symptoms from reintroducing a food, how long do I need to wait to reintroduce the next food? example: if Garlic upsets my stomach on day 2, how many days would I need to wait to reset my system to start the Onion 3 day process? Thanks!

I absolutely agree with the statement that quantity or combination can be the problem. In September I decided that table sugar and the sugary processed items from the grocery store was the cause of my arthritic inflammation. So I decided to convert to artificial sweeteners and those that were considered healthy sweeteners like Stevia and erythritol. I purchased a bunch of packet sweeteners that contained Stevia, erythritol, and monk fruit. After about two weeks, I had an area of inflammation that sent me to the ER. CAT scan confirmed it was not diverticulitis, just inflammation. I had another bout in mid October and another in November, all different areas of my abdomen, but clearly intestinal. Now its December and I have diverticulitis with a fever. I was using this sweetener in my coffee as well as buying many items from the store that were no-sugar products; like pancake syrup sweetened with Xylitol, and a protein drink sweetened with erythritol, etc. I was heavily invested in my no-sugar rule! What I was not aware of is that sugar alcohols from these artificial sweeteners were basically GI suicide. Hot beds of sugar now in my intestines that bacteria feed off of. I don't even have to do the FODMAP procedure because I was free from diverticulitis for well over five years. I'm confident that if I rid myself of these artificial sweeteners, or at least reduce my daily use of them, that my gut will return to normal again. I'm positive that I've had these same sweeteners in my diet before because the protein drink was something that I've had pretty much daily for many years without any problem. Adding a boat-load of artificial sweeteners to my died was disastrous!

I am an under 40 amateur athlete. Had a terrible pneumonia in March requiring hospitalization. I completed an Ironman 4 months after the hospital. Top 5% in, v02 max. My lungs are fully recovered. For my job, which requires strict medical requirements, they made me do a PFT and a CPEX. In both cases, they said my COPD showed up. I have absolutely no symptoms. It is such a wild diagnosis. They are only using that one spirometry number. How is this possible to never smoke, have zero symptoms, yet have "COPD" based on Spirometry and CPEX? They had the make the CPEX harder to get a valid result. It was too easy. I have been asking all over the place because this diagnosis may end my career. It just doesn't make sense

USA MD , here . Very impressed with your common sense approach which is evidenced based and based on experience. As you know there are many different and sometimes conflicting diets and treatments recommended for IBS. This is par for the course for a functional disorder. For example, I sometimes need an antidepressant to treat my IBS and depression after reading about FODMAP diet as the ONLY way to go. I have a colleague who I consulted who does not believe in IBS( “ IBS is BS”) and told me my American diet with Red meat , processed foods, no fiber caused my diverticular disease seen on screening Colonoscopy AND my IBS like symptoms (paradoxical diarrhea , flatulence , mild pain). He prescribed a high fiber diet, “ vegan plus” . I quit after two weeks. I will go through your videos; I am excited. The only problem is one of your narrators does not speak any English I am familiar with.

Fantastic seminar and has put my mind at rest when being told by your GP that you have a disease. Could a link to this seminar be put on the NHS Diverticular disease and diverticulitis A -Z page. I had to search NHS DD on google to find this advice. Would advise that patients (me) should watch this video twice and take notes. Most of the comments below are answered in the seminar. Thank you again.

@kevinperkins66 It’s exactly the same here in the UK. It comes to something when we have to rely on KZbin to get all the information we need instead of being able to go to our Dr! At the beginning of Covid my Dr jumped ship and cleared off!! 😖 If we are fortunate enough to see one now, instead of having a 10 minute appointment we’re lucky to have a 5 appointment!

With coeliac disease is it normal to have a painful stomach
@Positive.Motivate

I have asked my doctor to test me for coeliac I asked him to do the test for TTG and Total IgA but he only ordered TTG and didn't order Total IgA. I thought both had to be done for coeliac testing and should be ordered together. I'm not sure he understands the tests, I think he's going to wait for the result of the TTG and then decide if I need to get Total IgA tested but I'm not sure if that's the correct thing to do. Please can someone advise??
@mahmoudassran6503
@mahmoudassran6503 Жыл бұрын
Serological tests to diagnose Celiac disease are: IgA tTG plus serum Total IgA in order to ensure that the patient generates enough of this antibody to render the celiac disease test accurate. If IgA tTG came positive that will confirm CD If IgA tTG came negative and serum total IgA reduced, IgG tTG will be needed. If IgA tTG came negative with normal Total IgA then anti endomysial IgA will be needed also DGP and IgG tTG is recommended if there is deficiency in Total IgA that might caused by CD and might cause false positive results of IgA tTG or EMA IgA. One last important thing is that the patient must be on gluten diet for 6-8 weeks before performing tests. Also Biopsy and Genetic Testing of HLA DQ2 and DQ8 can be used if needed. Good Luck

No wonder this country has such an issues with health problems caused from food, when people with health problems have the nhs telling them to drink n eat processed crap like milk with no lactose or oat n nut milk, crisps, chocolate, cereals, tofu, oils, golden syrup, sugars. All processed crap, which is more than likely why people end up with digestive issues like ibs. Not saying a low fob diet isn’t a bad idea and can’t help sort out issues with ibs but you shouldn’t be eating processed crap in the first place and this regime should only be mentioning things that are natural and have not been tampered with. Also snaking doesn’t help with digestive issues at all either. Nhs need to sort their shit out. They recommend getting a dietitian to help you with this, nice one, cos their dietitians are useless. Not everyone can afford to pay for a dietitian tho or even have the time to figure this stuff out them selves after working shit hours in shit jobs n then having to deal with the stress of the health issues they have that the nhs aren’t properly helping them with.
