This was a favourite of my late father despite his own father having deserted him and his brothers and sisters after the early death of his wife. It is somewhat strange that this is the case as they were never to meet again.

Thank you for posting this. My mom had the 33 1/3 album with this song on it. I used to listen to it all the time when I was little. My mom took me to see them in Chicago when they came into town one year. This brought back many good memories 🤗☺️

I had never heard this song before and did not know who Gracie Fields was. But, I am always listening to things I have no knowledge of to see if I am pleasantly surprised with what I find. When I heard this song and Gracie Fields' voice, I knew I had found something rare and special. So much beauty. This is a very moving song wonderfully sung.
