Love the aerial of the start and the race. Whole different view than the go pro on the stern. What brand sails are you using.

Looks fun my friend. Do you just depend on the wind to take you places? Thanks my friend. Liked and subbed. Stay safe and connected!

Good headsail choice with that wind. Corpus can dish it out.

main is too far out against the rigging downwind losing a lot of power there.

Great video! Lot of fun to watch the action close up. I am curious though about jib trim? I’ve sailed on Farr 40s and smaller keelboats, and we were always told to not go full trim immediately after the tack. Granted the wind + sea state is very rough, I’m curious if you felt like you lost more distance & speed on the tack than you anticipated?

In the tacks, we would get the jib in as far as we could, and then the skipper grinds it in as soon as they are done with the traveler. It's a tinny jib, but we did play it with the wind. Tacks were fast and we would go to 1/2 speed, but we got back up to speed quickly. 5.6-5.8 speed upwind. We hit 12-13 downwind. We use a velocitek prostart so not sure if that's mph or knots.

@@sailingandstuff4029 Wow you were cooking it downwind.. Even upwind too! I haven’t sailed J/24s before, so there’s always something to learn 😅 thank you!! Happy sailing!

Nice video! Thanks for sharing your technique! from other videos of that race, the wind looked intense! Good job done by your crew! Fun to watch! I race and teach J24 in Madison, WI and I was wondering why you pull the main aft while sailing downwind. Looks cool when you and sheet trimmer do that in sync!

Hi Dawn, It was gusting 35 knots and water was coming over the bow down the waves so we loaded the aft to help keep the bow up.

Great to watch you sailing guys. Interesting to see the circumstances in CC. Some of my Swedish clubmates were there. They are not very experienced but they learnt a lot.

Yeah, we wanted to depower as much as possible in the gusts. The skipper is busy playing main, traveler, backstay, jib grinding, and tiller.

@@camdensimon1935 I have watched a few of these videos and the skipper does a lot of the heavy lifting. The trimmer should be actively trimming the jib sheets, but cleats it them down and sits on the rail. Cleating the sheets makes it hard for the driver to get flow over the main sometimes. I get it though--you need those lbs on the rail in this wind!

@@camdensimon1935 .. Yes. Looks like they were cough by a wave throwing them too low. A chin strap on your hat is a good idea.
