Hey man. Is this mod supposed to make the 1st channel more Plexi? Can't find any info on the internet.
@MaxCartonКүн бұрын
Makes the whole amp more plexi like. Takes out the polished effect and opens it up.

Great video man!!! I have a class 5, and it definitely has its strengths. Hey whats the name of your band? Assuming that was the clip at the end, id love to check that out
@RiffLair6 күн бұрын
I own a SB50 and honestly am thinking of getting a 1987x. I miss the bite of the marshall a lot of the times. The SB50 is gainier and a more versatile amp though.

Did you use the freyette in this video?
@dinmentor25 күн бұрын
Those prefering the 57s must not understand the whole idea of where guitars fit in a band mix... The 57s are really the worst of the three.

Man! I owned both theses pickups And i didnt notice a whole lot of difference… i think all the 100s of different pickups out there are all marketing scam and gimmick..

A Class 5 through a good cab is life changing. I have one for practice but when I'm at home I plug it into my Zilla cab with 2 heritage Greenbacks. Sublime.

Maxs Carton. I’ve never seen one of your videos before but you came up on a search. I think it’s really cool how you did this video and I think the music is minimalist and I love it very cool. I do not know but I wish you the best in the future and thanks for, putting up a video. It’s appreciated.

Coil cables make more brightness.
@MaxCarton2 ай бұрын
Coiled cables sound darker. Unless you have a really bad quality straight cable. Cool tonal effect though but not brighter.

I think coiled cables make the guitar sound better. Enhanced tone.

I think everyone is going to blow a gasket when they find out that the AFD album was recorded using a Tim Caswell ‘Stage One’ amp. That’s right. A ‘S-1’ amp modded by Tim Caswell. I’m merely trying to prepare everyone for the truth when the backstory and proof is revealed. Which is hopefully in the very near future. And please, no questions asked as to how I know this. I cannot comment any further than I have already done. The truth will be revealed eventually. When exactly I cannot say.

Does the amp and Solo tower affect the sound?, I thought the sound with the IR and the software was only the necessary. Can you explain it? thanks!
@MaxCarton2 ай бұрын
An IR (impulse response) only simulates a cabinet and mic(s). The amp and tower still contribute a big % off the sound. IR only would sound clean and weird.
@MarcRademacher2 ай бұрын
The VM was probably the best money ever spent! The only thing you have to keep in mind: It’s a single channel amp! If you change anything you will have to tweak everything! Specially engaging the mid and gain boost! Do not expect to get two usable sounds using the footswitch!!!
@PETRAS_2 ай бұрын
hey man!, sounds crazy. I would like to get the impulse response files. What hardware and software do i need?, aside from the computer? thanks
@MaxCarton2 ай бұрын
Hey man the hardware you need is a loadbox if you use a tubeamp. I personally use a captor 16 ohm. You will also need an interface Focusrite stuff is affordable and good. In the software there ary many options Boogex has a plugin to load IRs that Solodallas uses mainly.

Do you feel like the Les Paul gets you somewhere between Angus and Malcolm tone?
@MaxCarton2 ай бұрын
I personlly feel like it's pretty close to the SG just a bit more lows and less focus on the mids. The gretsch/malcolm sound is more open and twangy. Wouldn't compare it with that. If it goes more to that sound I would attribute it to the solodallas sd50 which is less agressive and focussed.

The SD are easily the closest to the original T-top tone. The riff raff is furthest away and would be too close to the tone from Malcolm. The SD nails TNT. Just put a schaffer in front of the preamp or use a bit of drive from a TS9 and you've got the classic early era DC. Would be good to have put the Seymour WLH pups in the mix too, but great comparison, thanks.

You can't beat the original, which is the Marshall. The Friedman is just a wannabe toy.
@andrewcampbell2043 ай бұрын
57 Classics all day. To my ear, the Bare Knuckles had too little character, and the SDs were trying too hard. On balance, rather than buying new SG PICKUPS, I think I’d be best taking the ‘57s out of my Les Paul and putting them in my SG, then buying some Bare Knuckle Stormy Mondays for the Les Paul.

I have one, TSR, i think it was very very expensive then went down in price, and when i mentioned it's for using with a slightly overdriven amp i was shouted down by the comp owner, who insisted the amp must be clean.... very strange....
@wrentcht5 ай бұрын
Marshall in the UK is the obvious choice dollar for dollar ! In the USA I’ll take the amazing note definition and clarity of the Friedman every time ! The clean on a Marshall is also NO MATCH WHATSOEVER to a much more refined Friedman ! The amps you compared in this video were two completely different amps BTW ! Just sayin

This tele tone is amazing what is your chain? And are the pickups stock?
@MaxCarton5 ай бұрын
It’s the stock late 60s pickups. I did have them potted as the lacquer potting fades over time and becomes very microphonic. I have found that Seymour Duncan La Brea pickups sound most similar for an affordable new set. Rest of the chain is the bluguitar amp1 mercury into a g12-65 loaded 4x12 mic’d with an sm57 and an md421.

Use it all the time. Input gain om 10 output gain about 9 ‘o clock or higher depending on the low or high gain mode. Limiter on 1 ‘o clock.
