I listened to this video without watching I listened with 1000.00 iems shure se846 and the dang video sounds good! Im sure the tower is better, but the pedal is not bad at all! Fyi i got a sweet deal on these se846 buds, it was a customer return with torn box for 400.00 10:01

Great comparison video! I have the Storm pedal and the Solo X as a backup. Was contemplating the EX Tower but I find the differences in tone here a bit negligible. As much as I'd like to have one, I think I'd rather put that 2k USD towards another amp instead.

Max Carton Guitar - I'm betting you've ran a tape machine doing punch ins before because you were nailing the switching precisely as I would have done it myself. Very satisfying comparison - Ty I think the tower is less compressed - but they are very close - I was listening fairly blindfolded by using my hand on the screen blocking the LEDs then peaking lol. Great comparison, thanks! I have the storm and always wondered how it compares to the tower. The Tower is a little more refined, but definitely close enough for me! Do you always keep the limiter fully counter- clockwise? I don't think I've tried that setting before

I do not keep it like that but I wanted to keep it off in this video as it would make it difficult to show since it’s on the back of the tower. I usually have it at 1 ‘o clock.

There's an audible difference, but blind and in the mix, it would be impossible to tell. Great for studio though.

Hey Max, we were talking on the SD group recently. Finally got around to listening to this through my studio monitors. I've got a Storm Version 1 and a current Classic pedal. Maybe looking to get the tower, this video to me shows the storm seems to be a little more bass heavy, either that or the tower has way more clarity

The tower has more clarity for sure. The storm is a bit more muddy to my ears. Still love the storm and use it on my board, but having the tower is worth it to me for ACDC tribute shows and my recordings. I mainly notice a huge difference when rolling volume back. It is more twangy and defined rolled down.

@@GantZiller cool! Dries handbuilt mine with an original 2015-16 board he had laying around and we swapped for a 1960a cab with original ‘79 g12-65 speakers that he used for the newest IRs. I’m sure you’ll love the tower!!

@@MaxCarton is the original 2015-2016 board more sought after (because of certain parts shortage of the towers offered now?(which I’m not even sure of yet, have to email the company) Does yours have the limiter switch that they added later on?

Really great comparison and playing man. You're really hitting the a chord Are this the actual amp settings shown in the Video? Always wondered because I drive my JTM50 much harder (High Treble 10) and give a lot less Output from the Storm.

Thanks! And yes, those are my settings. I prefer having it cleaner and boosting it more with the jtm50 circuit.

Tower sounds much better , the Storm compresses a lot more , is not so defined , the bass falls apart... tower is the winner, down side much more expensive...

The Tower sure is killer! Not cheap indeed, but worth it if you love the tone and vintage look of it...

You should balance the input and the output on the tower and set your amp up with a little more crunch, overall, not a bad tone.
