Why didnt you put the artillery reinforce point past the stream? A wicked outflank would seriously hamper the defenders' plans and be pretty historical. With an incompetent general, there may be ways such a bold move would prove disastrous instead!

38:45 I agree. On my test session, the party stepped out of town and saw two phase spiders 320 feet away. The spiders started to charge the party leading to the Elf using one of their two spells per day to cast Obscuring Mist to cover the retreat as the party ran back to town. The next attempt of venturing out had the group come across a psionic Doglike creature (Ravvu I think), helping them travel safer, they found the horde of the Phase Spiders (total GP value ~100,000 if they managed to get that) so now the next step is to work out how to take down the Spiders with minimal casualties, it has created it's own adventure. Also, the Elf nearly got taken down by a Badger, vicious things. Side note, when rolling for settlements just in visible hexes there was a Moathouse ran by a Level 10 Ranger (dual classed Level 7 Paladin), so that makes that area potentially safe to travel, and a nightmare to excavate. Random rolls really can set a different tone of game.

I believe the Shaken rules you are using were updated in v.3.3.1. According to the v3.3.1 rules, units that are shaken follow these rules: "Shaken units always count as fatigued, automatically fail morale tests, and can’t contest or seize objectives. When activated, Shaken units must spend their activation being idle and doing nothing, which stops them from being Shaken at the end of their activation." (Pg. 10 in the Beginner's Guide) The Raptor Knight should not have been able to charge. Great game!

Your video popped up again, so I watched again. All of the artifacts are just so astounding even for me. I really wanted to get all this stuff out there and have other eyes looking at it and thinking about it all. When I started writing the book I had only received the Fletcher Sagas about 4 months prior. I say it in the book, but I want to reiterate how new all of this is. If you have the book, you are in real time mode with every game researcher around the world as you examine and postulate your own theories on what and why. I wrote the book and I keep coming back to my copy to read and ponder, just as you are doing.
@almightyk114 күн бұрын
You might have changed it since this video but commenting as I go. This is just brainstorming, I am enjoying seeing this in action. With the random encounter table it would it make more sense to keep the Demi Human entries as Demi Human then roll on the table each time it comes up? Sentient races travel after all. Same with Ogres having the chance for Ogre Magi, roll 10% for each Ogre encountered. I would also consider doing the same when encountering things like snakes.

Jon, thank you for a thorough preview of the 2d Delves rules! On the Encounter Balance Table on page 83, it could be explained better. The number of tiers worth of extra foes you roll should come from the table your party is currently working off of. So if it's an average Tier 1 party, any extra foes should come from that Tier 1 table. It makes sense to match them to the group you're already fighting, i.e., look, more wolves, or more goblins, etc. But of course tailor results to your personal model collection and desires. Maybe you want a completely different sort of foe to bolster your base enemies. Also, don't sleep on the wandering monsters (column 2 of page 83). They can really mess up your party's world! Again, thanks!

Thank you very much for another great video. I sadly stopped buying "goalsystem games". I have the first edition of "chaos in cairo" but it has seen better days. I tried to get at least a pdf document and contacted Mr. Pyle and Goalsystem in general and got no answer where to get it. I also own "Chaos in Carpathia" and both editions of "Blasters & Bulkheads" but those got rid of a key feature that made "Chaos in Cairo v1" so great... Action points! You use standard cards to set the initiative and use your action points to move and do actions... It plays a lot like the PC-game "Jagger Alliance". I desperately hope that some day Mr. Pyle will give this playstyle a reboot or at least offers an easy way to get "Chaos in Cairo 1st Edition" :(

Love more OPR content! I'll have to listen to rest later, as I need to go, but halfway through, I thought I should mention. Yes, you "must" end every move outside an inch with exception of Charge. That being said, you can get into a scenario where that's just not possible (i.e. flying unit snuggles into a space between a unit and impassible terrain, so it can't really move back from the target at the end of its activation). In that case, just remember that they aren't locked in combat and move on. I know you didn't ask, but just thought you should know, from one Rules Theorist to another. Just to clarify, it's Hit->Save->Wound->ApplyWound. If a rule says a unit is "Taking Hits", those pretty much always need to be Saved against with rolls. For Example, Impact(X) applies "Hits" which must be saved. Devour applies Wounds, which are not saved, but are affected by Regeneration if the target has it. Deadly(X) is multiplied after the save roll. The first dank rider should have sloughed the first hit on the 6 to save because save happens before multiplication. This also means a "single deadly wound" can only kill one model (apply the wound to the model first, then multiply it, no spilling over to the next model in the unit).

I came back and read the comments. I am amused because no one (BroSr) indicates they have an actual clue how to do a Braunstein game. Merely desiring to call a multi sided Blackmoor style game a Braunstein is not playing a Braunstein - that is playing D&D with a divided party. As i say in the interview: The primary condition of the Braunstein is as follows - that players do not interact with the environment. If you need your referee to explain what your senses are perceiving, you are playing D&D, which is Blackmoor play methods. I wish you guys would quit trying to steal Wesely's IP by using his game name for your D&D games. It's just rude.
