I'd love to hear you react to more Bass Gang. Marwan Ayman has some solo stuff out on You Tube and he take the lead in their cover of "Arabian Nights" (from "Aladdin"). I recommend that song highly and it shows Marwan's vocal range (very impressive). Peter Barber is an opera singer and he also has some solo stuff out on You Tube (non-operatic). He took the lead on Bass Gang's cover of "Gaston" (from "Beauty and the Beast")--again I high recommend this. The other member is Tomi P (he's from the Czech Republic and his real name is Tomaz Last name pronounceable to English speakers) and he prefers to go by Tomi (pronounced Tommy). If you listen to Tomi speak, he does have a slight accent, but his accent has gotten much better. I really love The Bass Gang. They have improved vastly from when they first started. They were good then--now they're right on up there with Voice Play and Home Free if you ask me (I'm sure some Home Fries and Voice Play fans will argue with me on that statement). But I think they're all really spectacular and am happy to listen to any of them.

Highly suggest Marwan’s cover of “This is Halloween” sung in many different styles. It’s a hoot! And ‘‘tis the season.

They are named The Bass Gang, but that doesn't mean most of them don't have amazing vocal ranges. Peter Hollens is a long established a cappella artist and has collaborated with more other artists than I can remember right now. Go check out his channel.

Also, their youngest member, Marwan Ayman, has done some fantastic "lone" work (not quite "solo" work, because he, like the rest of The Bass Gang, does quite a bit of multi-tracking) and collaborations! They all do, really, but Marwan's Halloween releases are particularly good.

Love The Bass Gang and Peter Hollens both have some very interesting Halloween videos. This is what I love about Voiceplay, Peter Hollens and Bass Gang having fun and not taking themselves too seriously while making amazing music. Not afraid of being silly. Love Ghostbusters.

Ever since I heard Geoff’s laugh in “Enemy” I thought he sounded like Vincent Price in the OG version. He absolutely killed it here. Also, the Glee version is so ingrained in my head that I kept trying to mash this up with “Heads Will Roll.”

The sound engineer, Chris Chatham, sang tenor with Tim on bass in Blue Jupiter in 2001. Chris is the third voice and guitar on Tim and Austin’s cover of “My Maria”. It’s very good.

“Blue Ain’t Your Color” cover by HomeFree might suit your taste. A bit Motown. “Pretty Woman” is quite fun too. Especially their live performance on The Sing Off in 2013.

I like that they're all wearing red and black as a homage to the original constuming by Michael Jackson, but none of them copied it. I really enjoyed this, and yes, that is Kathy as the first zombie!

Being a patron I get to see the BTS video and yes they had way to much fun. Lots of shinanagins. Props to Rick Underwood for the amazing makeup and prosthetics. Kathy as the crawling zombie was her idea. Geoff doing the Vincent Price narrative and the laugh is perfect.

I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction. I had to stop watching for a few minutes to get my laughter under control so I could pay attention. This was never one of my favorite songs. I liked the video but I am the wrong generation to been a huge MJ pop fan. I appreciate his talent, it’s just not something I listened to very much. (However, their cover of The Way You Make Me Feel is my current favorite which really surprised me. Part of it is the tempo change, I really like the jazzy sexy sound of it.) Kathy was not only production manager but also the “floor zombie”. The “stunt zombie” was played by Gruesome Greta from the Halloween store. Rick Underwood, the make up artist, airbrushed her so she more closely resembled Kathy. (It’s not like she had a close-up, but they are the masters of a small details. 🤣) The idea to have Layne kick her away was her idea. I think if J was not the featured artist for this, Layne may not have come up with the crazy carrot idea. He loves to torment J and the carrot is his favorite weapon. He is the Carrot Lord after all. I love the part where J is trying to get out through the door, similar to the original Michael Jackson video (which I did go back and look at because it had been such a long time since I’ve seen it). I love how his voice is so tremulous like he’s really scared of the guys . Geoff’s narration was top notch. It really had to be him to do that part. He does narrations as well and has quite a few stories on his solo channel. Most of them are too scary for me but I do know he has some Poe, the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and one called The Masque of the Red Death which just sounds way too scary just from the title. 🧟😳🎃🥕🤧👻😱🧟‍♂️

Not only was Kathy the ‘floor zombie’ but it was her idea for Layne to kick ‘her’ away. They bought a doll from the nearby ‘Spirit of Halloween’ store to act as flying zombie prop but it didn’t match well enough so into the makeup chair it went. And then we don’t even see the doll’s face to appreciate all that work!

I was never a big MJ fan & I don't like horror but VoicePlay managed to make this one both spooky & hysterically funny so I love it. I'm embarrassed to say the first couple of times I watched it I totally missed Layne kicking Kathy across the room. I saw her creep up & bite him but somehow missed the kick.😲 I loved the carrot sticking through Layne's head; he fits that carrot in any time he possibly can, especially if J. None is around! Patreon members & fans have been begging them to do this one for ages and I'm pretty sure I remember Geoff saying that they wouldn't do it without J. None so the timing had to be right. I'm so glad they finally got it done and of course blew it out of the park. I so agree with you about Geoff and Vincent Price. I've said that to my hubby many times. The sad thing is how many people watching this won't have any idea who Vincent Price was. He passed in 1993 at the age of 82. He was such a master at the "horror voice" as I call it. Yes. That was Kathy on the floor. And they got a doll at the Halloween store that looks close to her. Then Rick Underwood, their makeup artist made the doll look like Kathy. The dolls name is Greta the Gruesome. It was also Rick's idea to do the "Zombie Infection". Geoff loved it so changed his arrangement to that. Geoff has 12 narrations on his channel. All amazing. All except a couple are horror. Mostly Edgar Allen Poe. Geoff has the perfect voice for it. He posted a short last night of just the narration part from this.

Yes that was Kathy. She found a Greta Gruesome doll that looked the way she was dressed and that was the field goal you saw. Layne has been known as the Carrot Lord for many a year and torturing J None with those same carrots. He did get the VioLayne moniker too but his first violin part was in Warriors, then Nothing Else Matters, and The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Loved it.

yep, you got it right! Kathy was the ground demon, "Greta" was the flying one that Layne booted across the room. Kathy also worked for Universal/Disney - and they worked together there in at least one of the attractions. If I recall my lore correctly, Kathy is the daughter of Geoff (and Layne's) high school music teacher.
