You don't want to double the strength of your spies, but the spies that come from the opponent. So it's good that monsters don't have spies

My best strategy is with the Eredin ‘Weather’ card, which allows you pick any weather card and play it instantly. I always keep a ‘Clear Weather’ and ‘Skellige Storm’ in my deck and try to keep them out of my hand, which gives me full control in a game. Try to hold onto this until the final round, where you can either trick an opponent into false security before you change the weather and a big swing in points, or as a failsafe in case they have a significant points advantage or a ‘Biting Frost’ card. I also recommend keeping lower-point Monster cards out of the deck entirely, and instead include certain high point cards as buffers to protect your ‘muster’ cards from ‘Scorch’ effects. These are cards like Fiend, Vesemir, Earth/Fire Elemental and Villentretenmert which have a higher base power than cards like the Vampires or Ekidnas. The inclusion of these cards also helps with essentially diluting the overwhelming number of ‘muster’ cards in the deck, meaning you’re much more likely to get 1 ‘muster card’ if it’s type, instead of two or more of the same type in your hand. And, because they’re not ‘Hero’ cards, they have a chance to stay in play for the next round, which can be a massive benefit. My final tip is that if you have the ‘Mysterious Sage’ spy card from Gremmist, try to save this until you’ve used your ‘muster’ cards. If you don’t, you have a good likelihood of drawing more of the ‘muster’ cards you already have, which is a waste of a spy card.

Just put every single spy and decoy into your deck then try to draw as many of the spies as you can. Then it's basically impossible to loose
@thugli4328Ай бұрын
Scorch cards are really dangerous, try to play around them for as long as possible, for example if your opponent has played a 10, don't play above that to save yourself. Alternatively you can try to bait that scorch out. Say you're playing northern realms and have two catapults (the 8s that double when placed together) and a few 6s. Play those first. Three 6s is a very tempting target for a scorch. Then you hit them with double 16s. Remember hero cards are not effected by scorches. If you're playing a monster deck , which in great part focuses front row and you have a biting frost and a scorch that's an unholy combo. Freeze the front row, making them all the same strength, then scorch (provided you don't have any non hero unit cards on your own side) can be a game winning move. Also spies are overpowered, keep as many as possible and use every opportunity to play them

What is really strong about N.R. faction is that one of the main weaknesses can be corrected with the leader ability (clear weather). However, N.R. is pretty sensitive against heavy medic decks, which can be countered with decoys

Wyll and Astarion?? 😂 I can understand if the devs didn't put too much effort on it....I can't even imagine these 2 together...
@DeviantDreamers3 ай бұрын
Honestly, I could see it… the “enemies to lovers” aspect with regard to the vampire and the monster hunter, but also both of them have some sort of experience with high society (though Astarion’s is obviously tainted because he experienced things through Cazador as a spawn)… so, I think it could work fairly well 👀 I prefer Wyll and Karlach, personally, but I won’t deny there is potential!
@DeviantDreamers3 ай бұрын
Astarion actually mentions in the game at one point that Wyll would have been his dream once upon a time of a “knight” coming to rescue him if I’m not mistaken!

i always play scoia tael with biting frost perk versus monster decks. doesn't matter if they have the commander's horn perk or the medic one, the monsters are mostly close ranged units so biting frost is always handy with scoia tael because you can just load up on ranged cards and a commander's horn. Also, the Novigrad cards are bugged in the gwent book because Thaler counts as two cards for some reason

Gonna go through all these gwent videos to try and understand. Gwent is like a foreign language to me, I still don't understand how you won a round when only playing 2-3 cards when I've literally played all my cards in a single round and lost that round and having no cards for the next round losing that one automatically. Does siege cards eliminate all close combat cards or something? No matter who I've played I ALWAYS lose lol. Playing all my strongest cards with 8-10 point values does nothing. Only reason I'm trying gwent is to clear these secondary quests that have me playing gwent and participate in tournaments before I start new game plus. Anyways this video has been the best and easily explained, thank you for the time you put into these videos.
@DeviantDreamers6 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for watching this video- I’m so glad it’s helping to some degree!! 🥰 Not sure I’ll be able to answer all of your questions because it’s difficult to do so without seeing the specific hands of you/your opponent, but I’m going to do my best! 🫡 1) The only cards that “eliminate” others are cards with the “Scorch” ability, which will destroy the highest point value cards on the battlefield or in a particular row (depending on which card is used). Weather cards (Biting Frost, etc) can reduce the point values of all cards in a given row down to 1 point each, however, so those are cards to be on the lookout for because they can easily lower all of your points drastically! 2) I can’t presume to know what your opponents are playing, but I’d wager they might be using some “spy” cards? They have an eye 👁️ symbol on them… they’re REALLY strong because although they get added to *your* side of the battlefield, they allow your opponent to draw an additional card to play for the future! 3) Sometimes, Gwent isn’t necessarily about how many points you put down in a particular round, but the “card advantage” you get/maintain throughout. Like you said, you can’t even try to win the second round if you’re all out of cards! So, if you know that you’re going to lose, make sure to save as many cards as you can for round 2- just one strategy I like to use ^^ Hopefully these little tidbits of info help you, but definitely feel free to check out my other videos as well! I have a “Top 5 Tips” video that I think will be exceptionally helpful for you, as well as videos on each of the card factions (minus Skellige… not sure I’ll get there tbh 😅) Let me know if you have any more questions and I’ll do my very best to help! ^^

Spy cards and decoys are insane because they create card advantage. Even if you only use decoy on a normal card without special effects, it will force a decision from your opponent to commit another card on the round or pass the turn. Playing from behind, with as much information as possible, has enourmous value in gwent.
@DeviantDreamers7 ай бұрын
Absolutely agreed- card advantages are overwhelmingly helpful regardless of the faction you’re using!
