Can someone explain to me how MA 1 would correct dips like the ones at 70 and 95 Hz (shown at 4:35). As far as I understand it these are cancellations from when the reflections arrive out of phase ... so boosting these frequencies would just boost the reflections as well so the cancellation should be about the same. Also would it be possible to get some waterfall diagrams from the measurements? Or would I need to do a separate measurement in REW?

Thanks for this great tutorial. But I‘m asking myself why the two gig 8 mics have to be angeled at 90 deg? Ok, I get it, that I get the optimal use of the directivity and null of each mic, but if I mic slightly off axis and focus on nulling it would work as well? Thanks

Well, it depends from the sound card and the mic preamp . Accoding to my personal experiece , it’s needed to increase the preamp volume in order tp capture thr richness of the sound .

Can I use an external pre amp? And by-pass the pre amps on the interface?

Thank you sir for your review of the Neumann TLM 107. Question sir, does the TLM 107 remember your last settings (pattern settings, pads & high pass filter settings) after you turn off the 48v phantom power? Or do you have to reset the whole thing everytime you use it? Hoping for your reply.

Just watch Glynn Johns Seminar He says it himself Very Simple, Put on a Pair of Closed Back Headphones Move the Lower Mic, In/Out & Up/Down till it sounds right, Use the phase reversal technique to dial your microphones phase Lower Mic Stays In-Phase Adjust the Top Mic for Listening for Peak Phase Drop, Restore In-Phase. Move the Kick Mic in Aligning for Peak Phase Drop, Restore In-phase. Obviously the Farther away the Microphones are, The more Bleed from other instruments & Room Ambience Too Close and you loose parts of the Drum Kit

Hey George. I’m having issues with audio when I connect my Mpc live 2 into my Mt48. I’m getting nothing but highs and resonance. Any reason you could think of? Literally just purchased the MT 48 today. Everything else sounds amazing. My mic sounds great. My Mpc sounds good connected to my Apollo and focusrite so I know the Mpc isn’t the issue. Please help, I’ve tried it in every input.

I have one U87 with some pops when I use it. I think it needs some maintenance. But I'm in Ecuador. Maybe do you have remote service that could help me and show how to do a correct maintenance of the mic? I also have some KM184s which needs a replacement of the mic housing

The only problem with this device is that the interface is terribly slow. The reaction time to presses and any actions is half a second. This is slower than cheapest smartphones from 2010. And even if it is just a matter of aesthetics, nevertheless it is terribly annoying and spoils the impression. It makes you feel like you are using an outdated device, even though it has just been released.

One Big down side to the MT 48 and the NUBIS, is that we can not bypass the preamps on all 4 inputs, therefore we always getting the color of preamps, so technically speaking, we still do not know how the AD conversion is on both of this units unless we purchase another Neumann/Nubis converter, just to have the direct line input straight into the AD. I know we have ADAT, AES67, DANTE does not help because that means spending tons of money again to hear AD with no preamps, something like the HAPI etc. Can you please help clarify. The D/A on the MT48 is incredible, so when you run some test and capture the signal through all 4 inputs, you can hear the difference.

Please release the MT48 in Black.

What setup would you recommend for a String Quartett in a good room ? I have a TLM170R and 3 Pairs of KM184. Maybe some Spaced AB with an additional center mic? Or I was even thinking about trying something like two Decca trees - style - one closer and one further away(?) 😅 .. Or is this „too much“ ? Maybe just two ABs ? Thanks in advance !
