Bulletproofed mine (2005 Lariat dually 4WD Crewcab) at 38,000 after blown head gaskets…had to put a higher output alternator on it after batteries and FICM failed repeatedly, and circuit board died (Nations sells great units); all electrical issues instantly disappeared. At 100,000 I did a complete cooling system upgrade w/Bulletproof Diesel’s package and added a tuner. Added Banks monster exhaust. Upgraded the factory turbo and intake, added a coolant filtering system. Redid ball joints, new upgraded steering box. Stay on top of maintenance, use Rotella T-6 full synthetic and Archoil friction reducer at every oil change, and Archoil fuel additive at every fill-up. At 110,000 miles, the truck runs and handles better than when I got it new. Have likely put close to $20 k in it, but it’s paid for and I can take it anywhere and tow what I need to. It only took me twenty years to get my truck the way I wanted it.

2003, 497k miles all original, only breaks, shocks, and plastic and hoses was replaced.. performed severe duty service religiously… no mods, all stock… every time I go to get oil change shop offered me $15k… I pass every time. I take that back.. I did have a flat tire once… and I did added coolant filter because while changing coolant I found sand. Oh and live in CA with stupid smog… pass every time.

296k and it slaps hard. Sounds amazing and who cares every truck brand has vices. These trucks are rising in price cause they're figured out now so best scoop the pre def diesels up there collectors just like obs.

Great trucks for pulling. I just got my 3rd 2006 6.0L. The first one I went through the engine, put air bags and a gooseneck hitch in it. Pulled loads up to 26K plus no problems It was stolen 2 times before I never saw it again. Second is setup for plowing snow. At 191K miles the only thing wrong is the transfer case. I just got the third one to replace the stolen first one. Got a crew cab which is what I wanted with the first one which was a super cab. Just finished going through the engine with STC replacement, oil cooler, EGR cooler, New stainless up pipes, cleaned the turbo, checked the compression which was 16 psi difference between the high and low. After 18 years there have been some upgrades so it got the 08 fuel banjo fittings, blue spring, aluminum finned rear diff cover, 08 trans pan and filter, 2017 starter and some gauges. The first one would get 9.5 to 10.5 MPG at a gross weight of 20K or over and 15-16 empty coming back. With the 38 gal main tank and a 100 gal transfer tank in the bed under load I could make a 1150 mile trip and stop where I wanted to stop and fuel where the best price was and still have fuel to turn around some. 3.73 ratio helped some, never had a lack of power. At those weights only a fool goes fast with 20-30 feet of trailer behind them. Wouldn't own anything else. Easy to work on the bit parts are not any worse than any other engine. Shell Rotella T6 oil and donaldson or wix filters kept her running. Great trucks.

Nah. Cummins with an Aisin transmission. That's the definition of bulletproof. Oil and fuel filters every 5 thousand= million mile truck. This isn't an opinion. I'm a diesel mechanic- and live it every day... I'm not a Dodge fanboy either- But they make the best chassis out there. Dodge front ends not so much- but pick your poison...

Grandfather owns a 2003 6.0 250, never gave him issues or struggled to pull anything. Would it have been better to get a 7.3? Yes, but thats what he ended up getting. He bullet proofed it himself from the dealer and it didnt give him any issue at all.

Almost totally stock ‘05 F250, 4X4. Upgraded FICM, radiator, blue spring , EGR cooler. Still has the EGR valve and all emissions. Not chipped. Not raised. Runs fine and I pull a 9K boat/trailer all over WA State and even over the mountains into Idaho. Use good oil & filter. Keep up on preventative maintenance. Use the proper EL coolant, not the Ford gold crap, especially after oil cooler replacement.

I have a 2007 6.0 with 250k, stock head gaskets. Runs great. I've hauled many times up to the max GCWR (23,500) and Trailer tow rating (15,500) no issues, pulls great. The owner of a 6.0 has to really care and understand how the engine works and what to look out for.

Looking at getting another 6.0 this 1 isn’t bulletproofed yet but runs and drives perfect was owned by an old man and only used to pull a camper. I had way more problems with my 6.7 Cummins than I ever did my old 6.0 but that 1 was bulletproofed

Biggest pos I've ever owned. Bought my 05 with 76000 miles already been studded and deleted. Been through 3 starters 3 alternators had the ficum rebuilt replaced the up pipe rebuilt turbo now I had an injector hold down bolt come loose. I hope it didn't damage the thread's in the head. Haven't got it together yet. And also the transmission is getting a long hard shift. I've had this thing towed so many times my insurance company dropped my towing. And this thing only has 96000miles. And the cost of the parts is just plain ridiculous. And now that the fuel prices are what they are I'm Done. Hopefully the injector will go back in and it's going up for sale.

It depends on what you do daily to the truck too, like towing obviously it’s going to be rougher on the truck than just cruising around that’s what I would look for when buying one and if it’s been bulletproofed or not.
