Great tutorial. The Italian Stone Pine I just bought and a dual trunk Alberta are the only pines I have. Not sure about how to properly maintain then but I can get them to look decent.. I have the principle down and I did jin one of the trunks on the Alberta. I'll refer to this and your other video when it comes time for me to begin with my Italian Stone..Cheers from Denver!

Great video. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and techniques. I just purchased an Italian Stone Pine, finally so now comes time for me to create. My prize so far is cherry tree I bought last August. It was about as big around as a tooth pick but it's extremely fast growing and is now 10mm in thickness. It's full of twists and leans and I baby it like you wouldn't believe...cheers and I',m subbing..

Thanks my friend a question why they say it is difficult to install wires to the boxwood branch ?
@groovygranny55655 ай бұрын
I'm assuming wrapping with rafia is to protect the trunk? Is there another purpose? When does it get removed? Is it necessary? This is exactly what I want to do with a little 15 in. tall cedar sapling that I'm dying to work with.
@bonsaihigh4 ай бұрын
The rafia protects the trunk from cracking when producing major bends as well from producing major wire scars when using a large gage. Simultaneously, when there is minor cracks on the truck the rafia slows down the dehydration process in the areas. I’ve seen people use rubber I have used plastic wrap before as well when working with smaller gage wire.

@bonsaihigh Unfortunately, no. It never bonded and the bonsai was too young (3 years) with too much damage. However, the bonsai has 2 new buds on the empty stem. I just kept treating it as if it were not going to die an empty stem of a tree.

Can we use the cuttings of maple??
@bonsaihigh Жыл бұрын
You can definitely grow cuttings ! - make sure the cuttings are not woodie, new growth works best - short length cuttings work best - use root powder hormone or liquid. - keep cuttings in shaded area - maintain the soil wet.

Love little jades, i have so many cuts! i have seen you have some videos on oaks tho, i was wondering if quercus suber (cork oak) can be yamadoried and when should i dot it... i have some interesting trees around my area which were great for bonsai! is it better to yamadori in early spring when buds swell ?
@bonsaihigh2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question! As a rule of thumb I like to collect trees in early spring. When collecting trees try to save as many roots and original soil. Do make sure to place the tree in a area where the sun will not damage it and you should be fine. If you have Facebook, make sure to join the Bonsai high group where you can get more help and share your collection! :)
