Obviously, there is no way you could have known this, but you actually didn't need to spend the echoes on that 10k key. Since you beat BSB and were going down past the old workshop(that door you couldn't reach), you can go around the gate you would normally open with the key. Losing to the baginsis is something most everyone does their first playthrough, I normally die to them on purpose to grab some drip early. It's an alternate version of a place you visit later. There is an npc you can only get in that alternate version of Yahar'gul. Wont say where or how, though.

The runes you're finding are like the talismans in Eldin Ring. Kirkhammer is good if you pump a lot into strength and endurance. Slow, but it stunlocks most non-boss enemies.

There is a torch to be found in Old Yharnam called the Hunter's Torch. Unlike the basic torch, it is upgradable like other weapons. However, it scales with Arcane rather than Str or Skl. Honestly, there are easier ways to get some fire damage if you dont want to mess with Arcane. But if you do want to, then there you go. Totally optional.

The thing you didnt know what it was was a.Wandering Madness aka Scurrying Beast. But you can call them what you like. I call it a skitter critter. Ignore them and they disappear, but respawn of you revist the area. Once you kill them, they are gone for good. They drop upgrade materials for you 👍🏻

Fun Fact #3: Waking up in some godforsaken place after running the fade with a homeless Santa, carrying a bloodied sack of unknown goods... Is an average Monday for a Bloodborne pro! 💯

There actually is a much better shortcut to the boss. It's in the building where the one werewolf jumped through the door, go up the stairs and near the top open the door. It will take you to the lamp

Bone Marrow Ash is a useful item for builds that invest into bloodtinge. Its basically a direct buff for a firearm for 1 shot. Its great for certain things. Every time you obtain a badge, return to the dream and have a look at the bath messangers' inventory

To correct the comment below me, use fire for furry things, use lightning for fishy things. Arcane increases their damage but just stick to physical damage.

ive just recently finished the game, started it 1 month ago after giving up on waiting for it to be released on pc and getting a ps5 , gotta say after seeing people glaze this game for almost 10 years and calling it a masterpiece i was rly dissapointed , the rally system wich was praised so much is next to useless in boss fights (especially if you use a slower weapon, and in 99% of cases if you dont wanna die you re forced to step back and heal ) and even tough the game starts really strong with good bosses like gasgoine ,amelia and cleric beast it quicly goes downhill having some absolutelly garbage boss design (in therms of gameplay) like the one reborn,rhom , amygdala, witch of hemwick ,,micolas,celestial emissary, shadows of yharnam , there s a good boss here and there (except for the dlc , those were great ) but few and far between.

I know bupkis about this game...but I suspect you are missing some kind of mechanic here...if this is an early boss, the slow rate at which you work through his health bar, and the ease of which he can one shot you seem pretty out of line. You should at least he able to get through his first health segment with relative ease, no? So something seems off here...
