I'm way WAY too old to sit in those racing/racing chairs. Much rather go for a real car seat. Comfy, breathable fabric, adjustable, don't push your shoulder together same with your legs, comes with sliders, and buildt to a much higher standard then sim rig seats from China.
@S1Races

Yeah I do feel that way sometimes, haha! For now I still like to be hugged in the seat but that might change in the years to come…!

Yeah a bucket seat can be super comfy, but only if it fits you pretty much perfectly. Slightly too narrow, shoulder bolsters just a tad too low, etc, can cause discomfort quickly. If you have a chance to sit in some and try them out before buying, you'd be surprised how comfy they are for long sessions when they properly fit your body.

You saw no change in foliage because it requires a restart. It is highlighted for exactly that reason
@S1Races
@S1Races 4 күн бұрын
The tool tip says you only need to leave the sim to turn foliage on or off. Once it’s on my understanding was you could change the settings from low-high and it would adjust in-sim. Good to know if that’s not the case but I’d assumed that was how it worked based on the wording

Hey quick question.. I also use triple 4k oled monitors (120hz) etc. 14900k and rtx 4090. I am having the WORST stuttering with this new 2025 iracing build. I'm curious if you are as well? Awesome content brother! Keep on post'n!

I haven't noticed anything particularly get worse but the main thing they changed was MSAA settings. The max i can run mine on is 2x neutral without noticeable fps drops / stutters. What do you have yours set to? Assume you also have SSR off when driving?

fantastic video, TY (i keep vsync off)
@PaoloDenti
@PaoloDenti 6 күн бұрын
i tried to turn on vsync, with reflex and gsync, and it does not work for me. with vsync off and your exact settings (to have a common baseline) i am at 160fps super stable, sometimes going for a sec to 158/159 (160 is the limit i set in iracing, with 166 fps set in the control panel). with vsync on, i see drops into the 140s, then coming back, quite unstable. as a reference i have a 4080 super with a i9-14900k
@S1Races
@S1Races 5 күн бұрын
Yeah I have to run with it off now as well otherwise it messes with fps. I assumed it was because of my switch to 4K triples as I never had an issue with 1440p but maybe something else is going on. I expect with an in-game fps cap under your monitor’s refresh rate that effectively does the same thing anyway

Awesome video mate and good to know that the questions around monitors, seats etc is common across everyone. I couldn't agree more about Buttkickers. I have two attached to my cheap rig and like you cannot go without them. There was a couple of items you didn't mention and your quick thoughts would be appreciated. Stream deck, button box, flag indicator, digital dash, HPR and headphones. For me Stream Deck for all extra buttons is amazing, HPR incredible and a wired headset no worries about battery power. Anyway, thanks for the advice, it was spot on
@S1Races
@S1Races 10 күн бұрын
Thanks, glad you found it useful! As for the peripherals you mention, I think they all have their place depending on individual use cases. I feel like I probably should have a stream deck by now as the extra buttons would help a lot when streaming, but I've managed to get by without so far and always seem to find other priorities for upgrades! As for flag indicators and digital dash, I'm fine with using the onscreen dash and flags so haven't found a reason to go this direction and I also prefer keeping the screens plugged into my pc at a minimum for simplicity (especially with the 4k triples as they were challenging to get working well). That said I have a pal who can't live without his digital dash so personal preference makes a big difference on this one. Your point on headphones is a good one though, I've been through a number of different wireless ones and I often wonder if I should just get a solid par of wired and be done with it!

Recently switched from PS5 and now running a 7900x, 32gb 6400mhz 32cl ram and a 4080 Super. Triple 27in 1440p will be my next upgrade from using a single 4k TV. I'm new to PC and setting up to triples right has me a little concerned but I'll be getting 3 identical monitors.

Yeah it can be a bit daunting but there are some good guides out there. I put one together a while back in case you want to check that out but the general recommendation is to set the triples up as 3 native screens rather than using nvidia or AMD software to trick windows into thinking there is just a single display. Most of us find that an easier way to run triples in-game whilst being able to use windows normally with 3 separate screens

Do you guys have "pick and pull" car junkyards in the UK? Here in the States, that is a SUPER cheap way to get high quality, affordable bucket seats. I pulled a seat out of a Hyundai Tiburon that was in very good condition for only $29! No complaints with it. Super comfortable, adjustable recline and position (good for guests). And always grab the passenger seat as it has much less wear!

There's been one noticeable downside to making the switch from a NLR 2.0 wheel stand in front of a big TV, to a full profile cockpit and triple 1440 32" monitors. It was like going from a disconnected video game experience I've had all my life, to an immersive uncanny valley. That visual immersion feels real enough that the lack of motion or haptics really starts to stand out, when it didn't even compute before. Definitely going for a 4 point Slip Angle haptic kit as my next major upgrade... If good motion sims remain at their luxury 7 to 10 grand price, then haptics will have to suffice.
@S1Races
@S1Races 13 күн бұрын
Yeah it’s a big shift. I’ve never felt the need for motion after getting the bass shaker set up as I feel that gets me far enough down the path of immersion to be satisfied but there’s now a bunch of things on my rig that I didn’t think I’d go for when I built the first iteration!

Yup, did the same. The IMSA 35 has no rain on the actual race. At starts for first few laps, its around 60-90 fps near the pit and opens to 80-140 on the back straight. Do you turn off two trees, or or lower anything on the right side of the graphic settings?

Yeah I have 2 pass trees and high quality trees off as I noticed it helps a reasonable amount with fps at tracks with a lot of trees and I don't notice the difference when driving. I'm running with sharpening off since i've moved to triple 4k and only run SSR in replay. I still have headlights in mirrors but I think I have it set to med or low quality at the mo and I only run 1 light for shadows instead of 3. I was running with MSAA at 2x rather than 4x, but I've since switched that back to 4x as the fps loss is only significant for me at some of the newer and more complex tracks.

Thanks for your patience to make such a detailed video that is very informative and usefull 👍👍 I dont think even the 5090 will be able to max everything out at 1440p on iracing and still maintain high FPS but i hope im wrong🏁

Agree, but I also other than when in replay mode, I don’t think it’s worthwhile cranking everything. Never hurts to save some processing power when driving for the things you don’t notice or can’t appreciate when focused on racing!
