In Windows Settings, should "Variable Refresh Rate" be On or Off?
@TEFilms Жыл бұрын
I've found that Racelabs and iOverlay disable GSYNC even when the iRacing window has focus. Have tried just about everything (after following your settings) and can't get it to work.

Does it disable GSync just for the centre screen?

Good stuff mate. Thanks. Have you noticed any considerable impact from running other apps at the same time? While I was trying to run Firefox to show my overlays on a secondary screen it was taking a bit hit on the fps so I had to forget about it. I will try your settings 👍. What other apps are you running side by side?
@S1Races Жыл бұрын
It’s been something I’ve played with a lot over the last year or so. Right now I really limit other apps and only have iRacing, trading paints and racelab running (garage61 as well if I need to record telemetry and obs if I’m streaming). Every app you can do without definitely helps but I wouldn’t say I’ve ever noticed a big difference. I do think web browsers can hog ram though so I always make sure they are closed and are not running any tasks in the background (worth checking as some do by default unless you change the settings). How do you use Firefox to show overlays, is it for streaming or do you have it open on another screen so you can see them whilst driving?
@S1Races Жыл бұрын
Another way to run apps on a second screen without impacting your pc is to hook up a tablet and point that web browser to the overlays. You’d have to deal with a smaller screen but then you know you’re not putting any extra load in your cpu
@HoracioJimenez Жыл бұрын
@@S1Races have you tested it to see how many fps you gain that way? Sounds like a good idea. The thing is I already have a top monitor. You made me think about a way to run it through a smart tv web browser or something 😅 if the gain is good enough

@@S1Races yes I have Firefox running on another screen with a racelab app streaming layout

i run windowed mode in iracing too and have found gsync still works on windowed borderless on iracing even when gsync is set to full screen only

Oh that’s interesting, I’d never tried that. I wonder why that setting doesn’t have an impact? Seems odd…

I’m on an and 7800x3d and a 4080 super but in iracing i don’t have the drop down option for nvidia reflex

I’m using nvidia surround full screen though
@S1RacesАй бұрын
What nvidia driver version are you on? I wonder if it’s to do with surround as I can’t definitively tell if reflex works when surround is active. Can you try native triples and see if it shows up?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.. The key benefit of this tweaking, would be to eliminate stuttering? My iRacing runs fairly smooth (4080 and 13900k), but i have microstudders in ACC. Maybe this could help :-)
@S1Races Жыл бұрын
I've only tested for iRacing however, setting up variable refresh rate for ACC should provide the same benefits. If you currently have a VRR-enabled monitor and are not using g-sync, then making the suggested changes should remove screen tearing when the fps is below the refresh rate of your monitor. Nvidia Reflex can help reduce stuttering as it optimizes how the CPU and GPU work together but I don't know if this feature has been enabled in ACC? (It needs to be built into the game by the developers which has happened in iRacing this year). Given ACC is so tough on GPUs, the stuttering may be caused purely by the high-end graphics so there is a chance that even with VRR set up in the optimal way, you could still get stuttering.

Any solutions for Gsync to work using Racelabs? In my case it stops working when Racelab overlay is switched on :/
@S1Races Жыл бұрын
Talk me through your setup as both work ok for me in parallel. The only time I’ve seen issues is if I forget to click back in the sim window after playing around with overlays to make sure iRacing is the window in focus. What is the behaviour you see when you’re in the sim with g-sync active and then start racelab? Assume you are running windowed borderless?
@mantulis1422 Жыл бұрын
@@S1Races sooo lets try :) Windows 10 Ryzen 5600x + RTX3900. Triple MSi 27“ 1080p monitors with FreeSync. Nvidia Gsync set fullscreen+windowed, app settings also set gsync enabled. iRacing runs in Windowed, Borderless mode and freesync works ok, when i use any overlays. I keep Hz shown on one of the displays to see when its active. As soon as i switch on overlay, frequency stays locked on the monitor. I tried google for solutions but only few people had same issue and none seems have found solution 😅
@mantulis1422 Жыл бұрын
also forgot to mention that I use triples with nvidia surround on.
@S1Races Жыл бұрын
Hmmmm, the one difference between our setups is I run the triples natively for iRacing and not with surround. Have you tried doing it natively? Might be worth a try to see if that has an impact
