You got that front end loader why not just buy or rent one the attachments that mowes or grindes down that tall brush. Also you are going to regret not just digging a small trench and making it a true French drain. You were 75% there. Would have been fine layering the bottom with the smaller rock you already had there.

Can you guys not get 24D in Canada? I have a 14 gallon spray tank on the back of my ATV. with a 6-ft spray bar. it's way easier to maintain weeds that way.

No your Honda isn’t best. Spray 30% vinegar on the weeds -- you will have dead weeds for most of the year. And it doesn’t hurt animals or trees

Love how you land scape your yard and how you planted those trees the drainage and rock . I would have dug a drench then put tile in then rock on top. I was surprised to see you put fresh shavings around the trees won’t that kill them..

If you are trying to build a “French drain”? Aren’t”t your suppose to dig a ditch, then put the holes up to catch the rain, put rocks over to filter the big things that might go into it, then put dirt over, then grass?

Just curious why put the shop in the front of your home? The curb appeal would've been better if the shop was in the back of the property.

That's cute that you think spreading mulch directly on dirt will prevent weeds.

Will those rocks affect your rain runoff? Act like a dam or divert the flow in a really really heavy rainstorm?

Just a couple suggestions… Get a face shield to use while weed whacking. I use one with screen instead of Lexan. It’s more comfortable. Also get yourself another string trimmer. With so many weeds you can use one until it runs out of gas then switch to the other one. I’ve been doing landscaping my whole life and had to learn the hard way after burning out motors. This way it gives them a chance to cool down when you switch them.

Btw, I'm a champion-level weed picker! Ask my neighbours - I got my own lawn sorted years ago, so now I satisfy myself with picking weeds on their lawns. 😀 It's like a disease! I can't help it! Lemme know if you need some help next summer!

What's your ultimate plan for this land? Are you going to put a big chunk under crops? Or are you looking at seeding/sodding grass?

You just happened to pop up for the first time because I watch a lot of landscaping Home Building Log Cabin building living off grid in Alaska and Van life people,, I mainly watched all the way to the end hoping you would give some homemade remedies for killing weeds in our yards but that didn't happen you just used the weed wacker which doesn't kill them at all it just cuts them down for a minute.. till they grow back and you cut them down again.. good luck with that but I'm looking for a way to murder my weeds once and for all

Regarding cutting that amount of weeds with that Honda trimmer, i am not a garden expert, i can just recomend using a face shield/cover from my little experince, when small rockchips hits you on the face it hurts and can damage your sunglasses too. Safety first ;)

Just wow!! The editing has a nice mix. You have the whole job mostly in high speed with a couple of slo-mi shots. You explain things well without overly talking and madd a great choice of music. The job looks exhausting but it’s turning out so beautiful and I’m sure it’s all worth it. Only one suggestion. A quick shot of you drinking a icy glass of lemonade or a cold beer. I became really thirsty watching all that work with no break! 😉
@KristopherLobb-pj6qy7 күн бұрын
Just a suggestion but if the pipe doesn't work out you should look into a french drainage system. I don't know what it is exactly but I keep hearing about people using it when part of their properties have trouble draining so maybe it works really well.

Hi, just enjoyed watching your vlog. I used to watch my grandmother kill all the grasses and weeds she didn't want with boiling water. She used to wander around her beautiful garden with a kettle and spot weed weekly. She never had many weeds as she caught them when they sprouted. Watching you weed wack you weeds it came to me that if you were to create a sprayer system you towed with a tank and instantaneous water heater that sprayed all with boiling water it would kill al those weeds. I would be cost effective, organic, and no chemicals. I believe the principle behind it is, scorching the leaves of weeds and grasses prevents the photosynthesis - sunlight to synthesize nutrients from carbon dioxide and water to grow. I use a kettle to kill all the weeds in my driveway and pavements. Works a treat.

I've started going through your Yard Geek videos now that you have several up, so I'm a little late to the party. One question that I do wonder about is why you have your shop doors facing towards your house and away from the road.
