You could intemperate that, but that’s not the message of the movie. The movie is about two kids with a brother/best friend like bound, on which they struggle to be in society because of how they look, the interpretation of them being gay is really weird and perverted, these are kids in a kids movie. Not everything has to be gay.
@elina301635 минут бұрын
"weird and perverted" <- that really just showcased your homophobia, whether you know it or not. News flash, I was gay when I was a child, too! I didn't just turn 18 and turn gay, that's not how it works. Queer children exist, and there is nothing perverted or wrong about acknowledging that fact, because there is nothing perverted or wrong with queerness.

@Rainos625 сағат бұрын
I think their is this weird you have to see the movie this way and people are trying to force it to be queer coded when in reality its up to interpretation. part of the problem is every time something happens people try and code a character as gay and at this point most movies are not really coding gay more so coming straight out.

Or sleeping beauty, where a creeper violates an unconscious woman Or Pinocchio, where a puppet gets shipped off to Epstein's island and almost turns into a donkey

Just because people can connect dots a certain way doesn’t mean that’s how the dots were intended. When I first saw Luca, I went into it expecting to find queer coding, but I came out of it amazed at what a beautiful, simple story of friendship it was. The only part that I thought could’ve been a bone thrown to queerness was the two grannies who we always see together (who at the end throw off their umbrellas and are revealed as sea monsters). I own the movie, and last week I watched the special features& deleted scenes, and I learned 1) that the creators specifically said they redid parts because they didn’t want it to have romantic connotations, just friendship, and 2) those two grannies were actually sisters. It brought me to the conclusion that anyone who found queer coding in the movie did so on their own, maybe because that’s what dominates their thoughts and perceptions. It’s not because it was placed there. It’s more likely that if you’ve had a deep/meaningful/impactful friendship like Luca’s, you understand that that’s not queer-it’s life-and view the movie and characters in the same way.
@elina301639 минут бұрын
The queercoding lies in the whole sea monster thing, not in their relationships! Remember, queer doesn't always mean romance. In the case of Luca, many queer people could relate to the struggle of the main characters hiding their true selves from the people around them out of fear of being ostracized or hated if found out. THAT's what people refer to when they call Luca queercoded.
@Shmoover11 минут бұрын
@@elina3016but that’s kinda vague though, like that could be anything at all. Almost everyone in the world has something they feel as though they can’t tell other people and end up feeling trapped by. Yes that could be referring to being in the closet, but it could just as well be as he said in the video. Disability, certain hobbies and interests, hell it could be having an unusual order at subway. And I don’t say this cause I don’t want gay stories in Disney movies, but just that want ACTUAL gay stories. Nothing in the actual message of the story is intrinsically queer other than the fact that a queer person could possibly relate to it. Unless you believe that being a sea monster is like being gay. Gay people are just people who happen to like the same sex, where as a sea monster disguised as a human is obviously going to come with problems specific to that scenario. I’m not saying you can’t find inspiration in that kind of a story if you’re queer. I’m just very hesitant to call it a queer story if that is so obviously not the intention. When I want a queer story I want it to just be front and center, and to be written with full intention.
@elina30164 минут бұрын
@@Shmoover I do also want explicitly queer stories too! And yeah it's vague, the guy in the video even says so, but it doesn't make the message any less meaningful.

I hate wokeism and will protect my children from it. However, I understand that it appeals to some and I have no problem with them making a movie that references it or has a gay lead or kid with gay parents AS LONG AS it is made explicitly clear so those who do not support this can avoid it.

Pixar had been pretty hit or miss the last few years, i enjoyed soul, turning red, luca, and onward. But really didn't like lightyear, i also feel like im forgetting one so yeah. But alot of those came out on Disney plus rather then, or with theaters, thats nit really fair.
@xenithvertex91613 сағат бұрын
I really think if the LGBTQ community stopped trying to make EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM or related to them, that people honestly wouldnt care, but the fact that they continue to act surprised when people are somehow upset about it. Imagine if whenever a clearly or seemingly gay character was called straight non stop or was constantly shipped with a non gay character? I like to think that you would be pretty annoyed too. IM not saying its bad for a character to be gay, but to be doing this kinda garbage to a kids movie is kinda fucked up, let adults do adult stuff and let kids figure shit out for themselves the LGBTQ community has already pulled enough bullshit when it comes to kids, if a kid wants a bunch of treatments or other things when they get older so be it but everyone need to leave these poor kids alone, they shouldn't have to be exposed to ANYONES sexual politics. PERIOD. I dont give a flying fuck if the kid thinks they're an airplane, they're kids not the play things for adults to push their personal agendas on. And finally, if a character is gay in a kids show thats fine, but if thats the only damn unique trait about them its not exactly a good character. Let the kid make the first move on breaching the topic of sexuality/gender and only indulge them with conversation and education, not on how they might feel, only THEY know how they want to truly be but kids make mistakes it is an adults job to help mitigate the really damaging ones. Keep kids safe and ready, when they are an adult they can make that final choice.
