Frenchie gay arc was so boring and pointless, Neuman not exploding every mad animal on that farm was dumb and so on. There was so much pointless things in this season.

So much of the season was just unnecessary to get us to that finale. That was the main problem with the season: bad writing. Sage coming in at the end and saying "and actually this was my plan all along" makes her power seems less like intelligence and more like "having prior access to the shooting script" And Hughie's "arc". That's a problem.

@@newbie2k477 i don't have a problem with the "woke" stuff, not really - certainly not as a critique of the show. The show has been, if nothing else, ideologically consistent since episode one. It mocks the Woke Corporate Religion as much as it does anything else.

Hughie's SA being played for laughs also just feels wrong. In episode 1 s1 started is a victim of SA and its not played for laughs at all. But here its funny? Especially since Hughie already went through so much. Feels really off. Also starlight blaminh Hughie for not recognising the clone is stupid af

The creme de la creme of bad writing this season for me was when Homelander when back to the place where he grew up and there was a whole team of scientists studying there with zero subject. They could’ve had another young superhero there on death’s door, showing the facility was now focused on creating Homelander level supes and then figuring out ways to take them out. Or Ryan could have a rival, showing how replaceable he is in Homelander’s fickle mind.

OK in defensive Ryan Grace wasn’t just trying to tell him the trauma. She was literally threatening to imprison him to hold him hostage to kidnap him and force him to use his powers to fight his father from his perspective.

This season was definitely the weakest, but still really good and not nearly deserving of all the flak it gets from the audience. The complaints about Frenchie being gay/bi are silly, writing was on the wall from day one. The show was always "woke", this is not new. But there is a lot of "the writer's poorly disguised fetish", serious plot armor moments, stupid stuff like V'd up sheep being unable to breach a wooden door. Worst of all is the Sage "It was my plan all along trope" it DOES make sense but it still makes me roll my eyes. Still valid critiques against the season but a few of them are misplaced.

yeah the show has always been woke but this season its been pushed down our throats when the joke is constantly at the face of Christianity and right wing points always their expense the season has drifted too far woke atleast previous seasons had good enough writing to get passed and had jokes against left wings to somewhat counteract it

I don’t blame people for being bothered by the politics. The previous seasons were much less heavy-handed with it, season 4 definitely showed some bias which kind of takes you out of the immersion of the show and just makes you feel like you’re watching Rachael Maddow lol.

Part of the reason why people were concerned with the politics is it hit too close to home. We're at the point where it makes me wonder if we're living in a satire. The Firecracker character, for example, is modeled after MTG and in real life she says things similar to Firecracker.

Man this season was awful…. Out over every episode, there was literally 2 that were worth watching. Never have I fast forward so much…. It also seems like the writing took a major step back this season as well.

Being upset at the politicization of the show is very different from being upset at an actress getting plastic surgery, so much so that it made the show 'hard to stomach".
