.. you need to define your words. When you say these golfers let the putter swing through that has no meaning in my opinion. Every putt ever hit did the same thing, the putter swung through impact???? You probably mean “release through impact” but you need to clarify. The video is so vague as to be a waste of time in terms of instruction, sorry mate

Jack Nicklaus just opened up for the first time about his putting in a KZbin video with Trevor Immelmann. And he both admitted and showed that he too did not aim at the center of the hole as I describe below (of Michael Breed). He did it in reverse however. He aimed left edge and sliced them into the hole. And he too stated, "doubles the margin for error". I think he said it adds about 2 inches of possible error. My experience however is that you have to have a pretty good putting stroke. If you have a lot of twist in your stroke (which most people do) this is not going to work. This is for the player who has a good stroke in the first place. Jack actually showed how he curled under to produce the slice. Everybody knows he did that on his drives for the same reason. His so-called "bread and butter" drives. Aim left fairway edge and always fade to center.

Its called the yips. It started before this putt and the accumulation of bad thoughts from previous holes reached its apex. Yes its a difficult putt but Rory has played 40 majors since and this type of putt he has seen not to mention this is the 4th day he’s seen this green. He has a mental issue and it will probably follow him unless he conquers his fear of loss.

Definately a difficult putt, but missing on the low side is pretty dreadful.

Very tough putt period. They are the toughest to gauge speed and line, downhill left to right. It’s actually a guess really so it may appear to be a choke job. Not so, just tough.
@nitsud1271

Not difficult for him he choked. He prior to missing this put had hit 496 consecutive under 4ft putts according to analysts. That was a choke job not a tough putt.

If low on face, he meant for it to go faster? If so it might have dropped. So a pressure induced mishit I think.

Yeah I didn't think about how he smoked the ball hard on 16. The speed got in his head and was tentative on 18. Tough break, loved it for Bryson but absolutely hate it for Rory.

yep, used his three wood the whole round and gets out the driver on the last, maybe a great caddy would have advised against that club under the circumstances

In the end there are two undeniable 'truths.' All putters are just hunks of metal at the end of a stick. And you cannot buy a good stroke.

Thanks for the upload. Good observation. After this week's win, could you compare his putting. Also, does your suggestion holds good for long/lag putt as well or do you suggest widening the stance based on length of putt?

Some touring pros and top golf coaches advise using a long putter in practice in order to reduce rotation. It turns out the upper left hand on the grip can easily do this. I knew a touring pro that did this one hour per day to burn it in. I like Tiger's right hand only drill. It teaches you that you must release under and not around. That ex-touring pro's name was Joey Rassett. He once was the leader going into the final round of the U.S. Open. And he was one of only 4 players under age 23 to do that. A serious auto related injury sidelined and then ended his career.

Wow. I guess this makes sense, but its still quite a shock. Pick your poison basically. I think my miss is vertical - probably need a blade sik or cobra faced putter more than a mallet. Although mallets do seem to aid my actual back stroke. ...
@jjgolfputting
@jjgolfputting Жыл бұрын
Exactly. This is not a negative against mallets. Sometimes they can help people hit the centre more often and stabilise the stroke, plus they're more forgiving on speed.
