Something to notice the best putters of all time doing, is letting the putter swing through impact. Little or no acceleration added by them, returning the putter with the same or more loft. No excess handle drive and energy going into the head of the putter, allowing it to swing through impact.

great video..thanks for the analysis. Ben Crenshaw says " push back with left and pull ..." does not say right hand but push back is key! I used to pull back with my right hand which causes direction issues ! left hand is key.

Michael Breed has an excellent video on lift through impact. Here is what most people do not understand. On a tilted plane, height of the blade off the ground at impact controls blade angle. That takes some deep investigation to understand. The blade closes with lift. So as Micharl Breed points out, if you aim a little right, and lift through impact, you double your margin for error on short putts. And many touring pros do this. Especially the younger guys. So do I. It works. Even Stan Utley says, " I have no problem with the player that hooks their putts into the hole". It's the old Nicklaus "Bread and Butter Slice" trick on his driver in reverse. But you have to have a good stroke for this to work and you have to understand what the putter does on a tilted plane on a proper stroke. The people who sell "the Putting Arc" also sell a clip on device for the shaft to help understand this. Or build yourself a wooden putter with a square shaft and ride it on a stair step above. This will reveal the mystery of lift vs blade angle. This is how touring pros make a living at golf and amateurs can't. Yes, swinging the putter is also EVERYTHING. It is the birthplace of the term "release" and it's father is Ben Crenshaw as far as I am concerned. Paul Azinger, "you have to give up control of the putter in order to gain control of the putter". Tiger Woods does this with his right hand drill only.

Jack Nicklaus just opened up for the first time about his putting in a KZbin video with Trevor Immelmann. And he both admitted and showed that he too did not aim at the center of the hole as I describe below (of Michael Breed). He did it in reverse however. He aimed left edge and sliced them into the hole. And he too stated, "doubles the margin for error". I think he said it adds about 2 inches of possible error. My experience however is that you have to have a pretty good putting stroke. If you have a lot of twist in your stroke (which most people do) this is not going to work. This is for the player who has a good stroke in the first place. Jack actually showed how he curled under to produce the slice. Everybody knows he did that on his drives for the same reason. His so-called "bread and butter" drives. Aim left fairway edge and always fade to center.

For comparison and understanding, can you do a video with some pro golfers who do NOT have this technique? Phil Mickelson comes to mind. He seems to drive the handle forward and not let the putterhead release. Would love to see a video comparing Phil and Tiger. Thanks!
