I am in Donegal for the summer and, as a first generation Irish American, I am sad that Tommy seems to be largely unknown to the locals here -- let alone his father, Matt Peoples, another great fiddler. But I suppose it's always like that. Local folks just take their musical traditions for granted, and it's often us foreigners who keep their memories alive. RIP, Tommy. Your music will surely echo around the universe forever.

Those of you don’t play Highland bagpipes, it’s really mind blowing that this Highland Piper is just stopping and starting that many times so cleanly

thats what is called a true artisan of the instrument. its a skill to be able to play either. it takes a true artist to play it like it was nothing harder than breathing or blinking

Enjoyed the fiddle playing, and wondered if the Doherty fiddler's skill were passed down to another generation. I know John Doherty did not have any children, but Mickey Doherty the brother and another famous fiddler player did have children. I have a CD of the reels of Mickey called "At home with Mickey Doherty and it does say he lived in Ballybofey for a time with his wife Mary Rua Doherty, Does anyone know how many children Mickey had and if they inherited musical talents
