buy the cat tool to set the idler gear stub.
@bigrig_smilespergallon
@bigrig_smilespergallon Күн бұрын
I've got one. I almost mentioned to everyone not to bother buying it. If you're building a 70 pin cat or newer, it'll probably get you close enough. But if you're building a 40 pin, you'll have better performance by actually setting the timing dead on. The cat tool often leaves you half a tooth off.

@@bigrig_smilespergallon not sure what your talking about but the tool that goes into the cam and sets the idler works.
@bigrig_smilespergallon
@bigrig_smilespergallon 9 сағат бұрын
@@youtubeisawesome2487 40 pin only goes off of cam timing so the timing has to be perfect. 70 pin goes off of cam and cranks and can compensate timing for up to 3 degrees if I remember correctly. More than that, and it'll throw a code. The lash tool will make the lash right but the timing is often off. It can be a big deal if you get into elevation. Anyways, for best performance, you should set it dead on.

Mainly just don't forget that they need rebuilt from time to time. If you've run the overhead and they aren't doing too great, rebuild them

I had an AirTec 78:145 single & just put Acert compounds on my 6NZ, SDP HP & Standard Acert journal bearing LP & @ 730ish rwhp all I can say is I’ll never go back to a single again!! The power band is huge compared to my single. Whoever this engine is for make sure you bring him on the channel to talk about his experience. Keep up the great work bro!!

What kit did you go with for rebuild kit ? What do you normally go with
@bigrig_smilespergallon
@bigrig_smilespergallon Күн бұрын
Depends on the build. We put IPD cylinder kits in it. They won't sell it to you without selling the whole rebuild kit. But you can see at a glance that the o-rings and seals are inferior to Cat's. So we don't really trust their seals and gaskets. We use Cat for all of that stuff. Using aftermarket parts is still kind of new to us. Used to be, you couldn't trust them at all. But they've been getting better and doing stuff that the OEM hasn't invested in.

Salute and Respect ALWAYS Brotha Greg and Mark good to see you with another great episode of content and video of a professional master mechanic work and workmanship. Like your time-lapse which cover this tutorial of explaining and showing the demonstration of the rebuild assembly. I thought you were SPEEDY GONZALES at the beginning, LOL. Excellent verbal step by step instructional details. Two heads and four hands are definitely better with this project. Greg you're a BEAST brotha with knowledge and wisdom of experience and skills. Nothing but the truth and only the truth. Thank you for the excellent information and share of content and video of this engine project. You and Mark be blessed and safe enjoy the weekend with your families....💯👍🏽💪🏽🤜🏽🫡🐐👀⛓️👊🏽⛓️👀🐐🫡🤛🏽💪🏽👍🏽💯 LEGGOOOOOOOOOOOOO TEAM SMILES PER GALLON!!!!
