To me every aeropress taste the same bold and meh.

I can’t even finish watching this. Who in the world would go through all this for a cup of coffee that you drink everyday? I think it’s great that you won, but this isn’t a practical recipe for the average person.

For those worried about prolonged hot water contact with plastic leaching with the regular Aeropress, theres a fantastic solution I've been using with stellar results with an alternate brewing method using the original Aeropress. So simple and it's actually way more efficient than the regular way using a lot less grounds to get the same strength coffee. So simple, just boil enough water as if you were brewing to the 1.5 or 2.5 mark in the Aeropress but instead of putting it in the aeropress, just add about 1/2 to 3/4 scoop of grounds to a glass or stainless cup or 12-20 oz milk frothing pitcher and add the boiling water to the same vessel. What you're doing is brewing outside of the Aeropress in a non plastic container. The beauty of this method is you can leave the coffee brewing as long as you like and let it cool down to room temperature and get maximum extraction without bad flavors. Then after it has cooled, pour it into the Aeropress and press the cooled coffee. What you've made is a cooled down strong espresso type shot that had only a few seconds of contact time with the plastic. Now you just boil some water to add creamer to or steam some milk to dilute and bring the coffee back up to hot drinking temp. Seems to taste just as good as Brewing the regular way to me, if not better. The verdict is still out on that and I need to do more trials with various types of coffee. You can also use this method to Brew several batches in advance and store in the fridge for coffee concentrate always ready to use.

It's a creative recipe. However, it's complicated and doesn't seem to fit the tastes of people who use Aeropressers. If I were to host an Aeropresser Championship, I wouldn't allow anyone to use anything other than coffee beans, an Aeropresser grinder, a modified spoon, and a electric pot That would be the best way to go about the basic idea of developing the Aeropresser... How about a competition themed around a campsite?

Love this recipe. I don't have the balls but I've been adding 20g cold water as it was mentioned in the aeropress website

It's crazy how she came up with that... also well done Australia. I'll give it a go when I grow enough patience and gadgets, but that might take years..... on a side note, isn't it easier to push the air out, and then put on the cap....

Just ridiculous! All I want is a simple easy to make consistently good cup of coffee. This method and recipe is useless to almost 99.9% of the people on this earth.

Okay, the coffee has ball bearings. What the heck are they supposed to do? I can imagine that they cool the concentrate rather quickly, unless they are heated first. Or are they chilled?
@TheGroundedCoffee Жыл бұрын
They are cooled. The theory is that by quickly cooling the hot brew you can trap the volatile aromatics that would've otherwise went lost.

Honestly it mainly comes down to the beans anyway.. if you've got shit beans then you're coffee is still gonna taste like 💩

It's a reenactment of a brewing competition lol. Almost nobody makes coffee like that at home. You know there are cooking competitions right? Have you seen to what lengths some chefs go to win such a competition? Practically nobody cooks at home like that either. Geez, some of these commenters here are really missing the whole point of all this 😂

I've found the biggest impacts on flavor in a brew are water quality, grind, water temperature, agitation and duration of steep - with grind and temperature being perhaps the most dramatically interacting with a given roast. Darker the roast, the less the agitation and the lower the temperature. Extra filters don't do much. Sifting the fines out might be a good idea for darker roasts as a lot of the finest grounds tend to be ashy. For a daily driver, though, who could be bothered? I keep it fairly simple most of the time with 13g of med-fine grind poured over with 200g of just sub-boiling water and steep for 2 mins.
@cliffcox764311 ай бұрын
I use 3 filters and get a cleaner cup.. 1 Aesir and 2 regular. Pietro setting 8, or Kinu 2.7.. sift for only micro fines, the just pour, stir and push.
