Couldn't agree more! I love this incarnation of the band and I remember when the LP came out way back when the people I knew mostly did not like it, which I simply couldn't even get my head around! How it was possible to NOT like this superb record. Hearing you talk about it now I feel like listing to this set once again. Which I am going to do now! (It's funny that video dates so much faster than music. The music is still extremely fresh and has not dated a bit, but watching those graphics in the Slipstream film it is hard to believe these are from the same time period.)

You kind of exactly tell all this in the words I would use to deschribe this album, and indeed this particular release! Only difference is that the orchestral section of this one is something I really revisit often (but then again, unlike you I do like, in particular 20st century, classical music, so if you don't enjoy that I can fully understand this is not your favorite Tull-bit). Just like you I used to believe this was the very best of Steven Wilson's Tull-remixes, up to a few weeks ago, when Bursting Out appeared - strangely enough, especially knowing Wilson was not a fan of remixing live material, I now think that that is Steven's best work on the Tull-catalog. I'll be checking your other video's out later today and this week. I really enjoy the laid back way you talk about the music you love, while never for a moment hiding your enthousiasm about it!

War Child has always been one of my top three favorite Tull albums. My favorite cut is Sealion. The lyrics are witty, somewhat enigmatic, cynical and colorfully metaphorical, and the music has challenging but definitely catchy atonality alongside complex and occasionally unbalanced rhythm (matching the theme of the song), not an easy feat by any means. What is also striking in this song, and other songs on this album, is the use of a string quartet. When the band toured this album they incorporated a string quartet for the first and last time.

Never really got into this album, haven't heard it for years but after listening to your thoughts I'll give it another go. I seem to remember when this album was released in the UK it didn't go down particularly well with the music critics, I think they were expecting another Thick As A Brick or Aqualung. Given the amount of albums Tull have released over the years with all the different line ups and Ian Anderson being inclined to try something different, its not surprising that when fans are asked about their favourite album, there are a lot of different answers. For the record mine is Benefit, but I really like most of them.

In my opinion, Seconds Out is the greatest live album ever recorded. It still has Steve Hackett, we get Bill, Chet, and Phil on drums. Phil is a great singer, he digs emotionally into a lot of these songs and brings an edge that Peter didn’t always get to. Don’t get me wrong, I love Peter, especially on the studio recording of Supper’s Ready, but live, it’s tough to beat Phil.

I personally think this is one of Floyd's best albums, I saw them in 74 and 75 when they played early versions of Sheep (Raving and Drooling) and Dogs (You Got To Be Crazy) even back then I thought they were great tracks and was surprised when they didn't appear on Wish You Were Here as they had also played Shine On Crazy Diamond.
