How would you pot it if the roots are right next to the leaf like some of those first ones?

Love the growth pattern of your gloriosum, so straight up and tall! Were you growing it outside or have a grow light from above? I have mine supplemented with grow lights and having it face forward toward the viewing side. Problem is the leaves are so large they started fighting each other.

The best way to propagate crawling philodendron, it’s to wrap the overarching stem at the air-roots with spagnum moss and a bit of wrapping plastic. And cut it when the roots are fully grown in the bag. The mother plant will produce more side branches for a fuller plant and more future props. And you just get a clean cut mother prop that’s easy to start and grows big fast.
@wildvine.plants
@wildvine.plants 15 күн бұрын
@janswienink Yes that is true! I have done that before but this way is an easy/lazy way for me haha. I left it too long though because it was winter here in NZ. Usually I prop before it reaches the end of the pot.

@@wildvine.plants what I do with my Mc dowell, I just let it grow from pot to pot, while in the new planter layering the ground around the roots with spagnum. Some sticks to help it stand, after a few weeks the cut. It’s the ultimate in lazy gardening :)

Frustrating to put it mildly. If you have any large plastic bags( like appliances come in) they do great for keeping large (and beautiful 🤩)leaves until there's enough roots to support them. Only need it for a few weeks. Thanks for the editing... there's another utuber who puts in duck quacks that I appreciate alot. Well done on staying so cheerful in spite of how it must have felt.

I just water them when they need it, which is usually every 1.5 to 2 weeks. I use GT foliage focus, which I highly recommend! I have that linked in the description (amazon) I clean the leaves occasionally with a neem based spray or I just shower the whole plant off with the hose from time to time :)

Is the GT Foliage Focus OK to use on an anthurium andreanum or should I get their GT Complete Focus? All my other plants are purely foliage plants so I only have the GT Foliage Focus and GT Rootzone.
@wildvine.plants
@wildvine.plants 24 күн бұрын
Oh absolutely okay! The complete focus would be good if you were wanting to help support inflorescence as well as foliage but to be honest I use FF on all my plants and they still push inflo out fine. Both actually work equally as well.

Wow, I wish I could grow mine that wild, but in order to get them into the bathroom to treat for pests every few months that’d be a pain! So fun!! Have you tried your Anthurium in semi hydro? I know my Alocasias love moss on top of the soil to keep moisture into the chunky soil mix I have them in, I’ve got 2 Anthuriums in semi hydro that seem ok I’m jelly, I can’t make my Peru happy no matter what 😢 I’ve got 2 Gloriosum in one pot, facing opposite directions, they’re crawling away from each other, I’m def going to have to do something before it takes up a whole length of wall!

I have to say, I understand the logic in training the plants on poles. I love all your tipps! But i have to say - i really hate the straight poles. It looks to straight and therefore "unnatural" for me. In nature, they would climb other plants, trees, etc, and in my opionion, that would mostly not look that kind of straight.So I'd rather have it look more "messy" because it just feels more natural for me. Even If I have a climbing aid, I rotate it to slightly change the direction to not make it look like just climbing in a straight line tbh. Even if the plant might climb slower - thats just worth it to me.
